Battle at the Box Office 11/16

Apparently it wasn’t the end of the world for Roland Emmerich at the box office this weekend as his latest disaster epic, 2012, took home the top spot with $65 million, still $3 million behind The Day After Tomorrow but overall second compared to similar movies in the disaster genre. A Christmas Carol had a slight drop but pulled in $22 million for second place. The only other big bit of news is that Precious, boosted by a shout out by Oprah, took home the fourth place spot with just over $6 million in only 174 theaters. The other new wide release, Pirate Radio, might have a leak in it’s hull as it didn’t even make the top ten, pulling in just under $3 million. Hopefully everyone enjoys their spots as the box office is going to be steam rolled by the horror that is New Moon this weekend.
