Musical Montage: Joe Esposito “You’re the Best”

When you think of montages, the first thing you think of is probably Rocky.  Second or third is probably The Karate Kid and it’s ridiculously upbeat and positive montage song, “You’re the Best” by Joe Esposito.  A “competition” montage compared to the more popular “training” montage, the song is used to fast forward through the action of the Tri-Valley karate tournament so we can get a sense of what Daniel-san and Johnny bring to the table before their climactic final battle.  Check out the song in context in the movie below.
