If you only know Rick Springfield as the guy who sang, arguably, one of the greatest songs ever with “Jessie’s Girl” than you probably don’t realize how big Rick was in the 80′s. He had multiple top ten songs and two top ten albums, a Grammy and was one of the stars of General Hospital. Not quite reaching the heights of his other two conquered media was Rick’s foray into movies with 1984′s “Hard to Hold”, where Rick played a rock star who gets into a car accident and falls in love with the other victim, but she has never heard of him and he has to pull out every trick he knows to try and win her affection. There’s nothing futuristic or sci fi about the movie at all, but you would never know that from the insane and awesome video for one of the songs from soundtrack, Bop ‘Til you Drop. The video finds Rick as a slave on an alien planet who is forced to perform for the whims of his alien oppressors but his musical prowess distracts them enough for he and his fellow slaves to escape and earn their freedom. This is why the 80′s was the golden age of music videos, check it out below.
