  • Agent Coulson’s return revealed: A source revealed to /Film that the plan to re-introduce Agent Coulson into the Marvel Cinematic Universe was to reveal that Nick Fury faked Coulson’s death to inspire The Avengers into action and then transferred him to a secure location to recover and hide until the heat died down and then was reinstated as the head of this new team of SHIELD agents.
  • MTV greenlights Scream showMTV will be officially producing a series based on Wes Craven’s horror classic, Scream.  Craven will most likely direct the pilot and the show will “reinvent” the franchise.  The show should debut sometime next summer.
  • Armie Hammer joins The Man from UNCLE movieOriginally going to be a Steven Soderbergh/George Clooney project, the adaptation of the classic 60’s TV show, The Man from UNCLE, is now in the hands of Guy Ritchie with Tom Cruise starring as secret agent Napoleon Solo.  Armie Hammer was announced this week to be playing his counterpart, Illya Kuryakin, but it’s still not clear if this movie will take place during the 60’s or be a modern update of the concept, so Hammer could potentially by a Soviet secret agent.
  • Bishop and Warpath confirmed for X-Men: Days of Future PastX-Men: Days of Future Past keeps getting bigger and bigger and director Bryan Singer announced on Twitter this week that two new mutants to the movie franchise will be featured, Bishop and Warpath.  Bishop is an especially important edition as he is heavily involved in the time travel aspects of the X-men series and was the driving force of the 90’s cartoon’s adaptation of Days of Future Past.
  • The Expendables 3 has a directorSly Stallone announced on Twitter this week that Expendables 3 will be directed by Australian director, Patrick Hughes.  Hughes is relatively unknown, with his most prominent film being the crime thriller, Red Hill.
  • Phil Lord and Chris Miller returning for 21 Jump St 2: The duo is currently working on the Lego movie but will returning to direct the sequel to the suprisingly great remake.
  • Daredevil back in the hands of Marvel StudiosAfter Fox failed to get a project into production, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced that Daredevil is now back in the hands of Marvel Studios.  There are no plans currently to get a new movie off the ground but he could potentially appear in any of the Cinematic Universe movies in the works or the SHIELD TV show.
  • Netflix surpasses HBO for subscribers:   According to an analysis firm, Netflix currently has 29.17 million subscribers for the first quarter of 2013, compared to HBO’s 28.7 million.  With their recent acquistion of Disney and Cartoon Network programming, Netflix also announced they will be creating a “family plan” for streaming, which will be $12/month and allow 4 simultaneous streams, as compared to the two simultaneous streams you currently get with the $8/month streaming plan.
  • Futurama cancelled by Comedy CentralOnce again, Futurama will be leaving the airwaves, as Comedy Central chose to not renew the series.  September 4th will be the series finale.
  • Tom Hiddleston may be in talks to be The CrowThe Crow remake has been struggling to get started, first with Bradley Cooper, then James McAvoy and now it seems like Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, may be in early talks to star in the movie.
