  • NBC renews Parks & Rec and CommunityWe should be getting a ton of news about what shows are cancelled and which are renewed in the next week or so but two of the biggest renewals are probably Parks & Rec getting a sixth season and Community getting a fifth season.  NBC pretty much cancelled all the rest of their comedies, including Go On, Whitney, 1600 Penn, Up All Night and Guys With Kids.
  • Burn Notice ending this season: The upcoming seventh season of Burn Notice will be the last, according to USA.  The final season begins on June 6th.
  • 300: Rise of the Empire and All You Need is Kill moved back: The sequel to 300 was supposed to come out late this summer but will now be out next March.  The Tom Cruise sci fi/action blockbuster, All You Need is Kill was supposed to come out on that date but will now be one of Warner Bros. tentpole summer blockbusters, coming out on June 6th, 2014.
  • Jurassic Park 4 delayed indefinitelyJurassic Park 4 seemed to be underway, with director Colin Trevorrow doing location scouting in Hawaii and revealing the movie would head back to the original island but now Universal has delayed production on the movie and there is no time frame for if and when it will pick back up.
  • No Falcon or War Machine spin off movies in the near futureMarvel Studios President Kevin Feige has been answering questions about Phase II and beyond with the release of Iron Man 3 and one of the things he mentioned is that the studio does not have any plans in the near future for a solo movie for either War Machine or Falcon, who will be appearing in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
  • Warner Bros gets the Dungeons & Dragons license: With the success of recent fantasy fare like Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings, etc, Warner Bros has secured the rights to the OG fantasy franchise, Dungeons & Dragons.  A script is currently being written and one of the producers was the director of the ill fated 2000 New Line Dungeons & Dragons movie, so hopefully they learned their lesson from that disaster.
  • Shane Black in talks for Doc Savage movieWith Iron Man 3 making all the money currently, Shane Black can pretty much do whatever he wants and a project he was working on that got put on the back burner may be back on.  The movie is Doc Savage, bringing the classic pulp adventurer to the big screen and Black is currently in talks with Sony to direct the movie based on a script he wrote in 2009.
  • Christopher McQuarrie directing Ice Station Zebra remake: The Jack Reacher director, and possible director of Mission Impossible 5, has signed on to direct a remake of the 60’s espionage thriller, Ice Station Zebra.  The movie starred Rock Hudson, Ernest Borgnine and Patrick McGoohan and followed a team on board a US submarine who are sent to an Arctic research station to recover a camera with photos of US and Soviet missile silos that are vital to national security.  The movie is supposed to be a period piece set in the 60’s and there is no casting info at this time.
  • Tom Cruise starring in MI 5: Jeremy Renner was on board to take over if he didn’t come back but Ethan Hunt will return for the fifth entry in the Mission Impossible series.  No plot, director or other actors revealed but I know we’re all excited for another MI movie after the excellent Ghost Protocol.
  • Electronic Arts gets exclusive rights to Star Wars gamesAfter Disney closed down Lucasarts a few weeks ago, it was unclear how the future of Star Wars video games was going to go but now EA has secured the exclusive rights to make video games set in the Star Wars universe.  EA already had the Knights of the Old Republic series and there’s already some ideas and speculation  for what they could do going forward, like a Battlefieldesque entry in the Battlefront series.
