Battle at the Box Office 6/17

2-MOS-TRL2-2502r

The Justice League movie should hopefully be moving forward after the spectacular debut of Man of Steel this past weekend.  The movie had the highest ever opening for June with $113.1 million of the weekend and, adding midnight screenings and the special Wal-Mart screenings, it is at $125.1 million.  It’s the second best opening of the year behind Iron Man 3.  It’s not quite up to the level of The Dark Knight or The Dark Knight Rises, but hopefully DC realizes that people actually want to see movies of their other heroes and they would like them to possibly team up at some point.  Second place went to This is the End, counter programming to Man of Steel, made $32.8 million, since it came out on Wednesday and it’s a solid start for an R rated comedy.  Now You See Me remained in third with $10.3 million and is inching closer to crossing over $100 million.  Fast & Furious 6 and The Purge rounded out the top 5, The Purge losing over 75% of it’s business from last weekend.  Nothing else really moved to much on the top ten chart.
