  • Neil Marshall rumored for King Kong sequel movieIn 2004, a graphic novel sequel to the original King Kong called Kong: King of Skull Island was released and there is a rumor right now that Centurion/Doomsday director Neil Marshall may direct a movie version of the story.  This surprised Marshall’s wife, Axelle Carolyn, who joked about it on Twitter, so it might just be wishful thinking at this point.
  • Danny Boyle directing heist film “Smash & Grab”: Danny Boyle is attached to direct a heist movie called Smash & Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers, which will be based on the true story of the world’s most successful jewel thieves, who were dubbed The Pink Panthers.  The movie will be a mix of real surveillance footage and animated reconstructions of their crimes.
  • 24: Live Another Day location and time frame revealed:   When Jack Bauer returns next year, he’ll be laying his particular brand of smack down on London, four years after fleeing US authorities as a fugitive after stopping an attack on NYC.
  • Marc Forster won’t be back for World War Z 2One of the most surprising hits of the year, World War Z’s sequel was greenlit earlier this year but director Marc Forster will not be back to direct the sequel.  There’s no word right now about who would step in to direct.
  • Sleepy Hollow renewed for a second season: The first major new show to get picked up is Fox’s insanely entertaining Sleepy Hollow, which will return with another season next year.  The first season is set to be 13 episodes.
  • Marvel casting news: Samuel L Jackson confirmed that Elizabeth Olson will be  in Avengers: Age of Ultron and, although Marvel didn’t confirm, will be Scarlett Witch.  Meanwhile, Paul Giamatti confirmed he will be back as Rhino in Amazing Spider-Man 3, after he will appear briefly in Amazing Spider-Man 2.
  • David Tennant heading to US with Broadchurch remakeBroadchurch has been a pretty well recieved new BBC crime drama and it will be heading to the US in a remake and bringing star David Tennant with it, who will reprise his role as DI Alec Hardy for the Fox show, similar to what Low Winter Sun did with Mark Strong.
  • Next Friday the 13th might be found footage: It’s been quite a while since the Friday the 13th remake came out but there is sequel discussion going on right now and one of the ideas being thrown around is about a found footage movie.  The remake was one of the most well received of the recent slew of horror remakes, so it’s strange there hasn’t been a sequel yet.
  • Ted 2 enters 2015 summer fracas: 2015 continues to get crazier and crazier as it seems like every massive movie you can think of is coming out in that summer.  Add  Ted 2 into the fray, which was moved from April to to smack dab in middle of the Summer, June 26th.
  • Tom Clancy died at age 66: Legendary military thriller author, Tom Clancy, passed away early this week at age 66.  It’s not clear what caused it.  Movie wise, Clancy’s works contributed to the Jack Ryan series of The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear & Present Danger, The Sum of All Fears and the upcoming Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.
  • Screenwriter hired for Legend of ConanAndrea Berloff, writer of World Trade Center, has been hired to write the script for Arnold’s return to Hyboria in The Legend of Conan.  The movie will pick up years after Arnold’s original pair of Conan movies, with Conan as king going on one final quest.
  • World of Warcraft coming in 2015: The WoW movie, directed by Duncan Jones, will arrive on December 18th, 2015.
  • Timeframe for Captain America: The Winter Soldier: Cap will take on the Winter Soldier with Black Widow and The Falcon two years after the events of The Avengers.
