- Hugh Jackman cast in Pan: Directer Joe Wright, of Hanna and Atonement, is directing a new reimagined origin of Peter pan and Hugh Jackman has been cast as the villainous Blackbeard, who will be the main villain of the movie. Peter and a young Captain Hook team up to free Neverland before eventually becoming enemies and Garret Hedlund aka Sam Flynn from Tron: Legacy will play Hook.
- Annapurna Pictures drops out of Terminator: Genesis: The co-financers of Terminator: Genesis have backed out of the project and Skydance Productions has stepped in to help fund the fifth Terminator movie. Paramount will distribute the movie.
- Ant Man moves to July 2015: With Batman vs Superman getting bumped back, Marvel has swooped in to take it’s rivals prime summer slot by moving Ant-Man up to July 17, 2015, two months after they’ll kick off the jam packed summer with Avengers: Age of Ultron.
- Deathlok joins Agents of SHIELD: Hopefully realizing they were severely lacking in actual Marvel characters, Deathlok is the most recent comic character making his live action debut, although through a character we already know on the show. J. August Richards, currently featured on the show as super solider Mike Peterson will become the cybernetically enhanced soldier later in the season.
- New Line may lose Y: The Last Man rights: One of the most critically acclaimed comic series of all time, Y: The Last Man, has been struggling to get turned into a movie. New Line currently has the rights and David Goyer was producing with Totally Rad Show co-host Dan Trachtenberg set to make his feature directing debut but if the movie does not go into production in the next few months, the rights will revert back to creators Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra.
- Pixar rumored to be developing a Star Wars movie: The animation studio is apparently been given the chance to develop a Star Wars movie but there’s literally no other info and it may not even be true. After The Incredibles, I’m sure most of us would want to see Pixar tackle a Marvel property but I’m sure they could churn out an awesome Star Wars movie as well.
- Carrie Fisher confirms she, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford will be back for Episode VII: Talking to TV Guide, Fisher confirmed she will be back for Episode VII has Princess Leia and Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford will be back as well. She also mentioned she would love to bring back the side buns, albeit much whiter versions. The script for the movie is also finally complete as well.
- Captain Underpants movie casting announced: Dreamworks has the rights to the popular book series about a principal who transforms into a crazy superhero and the voice cast they announced for the movie is pretty impressive including Kevin Hart, Ed Helms, Nick Kroll and Jordan Peele. Nick Stoller of The Muppets is adapting the book and Rob Letterman, director of Monsters vs Aliens, is set to direct.
- Latest Tarantino script leaks, Tarantino not doing it now: Quentin Tarantino has been working on the script for The Hateful Eight, his western follow up to Django Unchained and the script got leaked online. Because of this, Tarantino announced he would no longer make the movie, possibly it would get published as a book at some point but Tarantino said he’s moving on to the next project.
- Sacha Baron Cohen in talks for Through the Looking Glass: Inexplicably making over $1 billion at the box office when it came out, Disney is obviously making a sequel to Alice in Wonderland called Through the Looking Glass and Sacha Baron Cohen is apparently in talks for a role, joining returning stars Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska. The movie has a 2016 release date.
- Fantasic Four script done, casting begins soon: Josh Trank’s reboot of Fantastic Four finally has a script and now casting will begin shortly. Some names rumored to be up for roles include Miles Teller, Richard Madden, Kit Harrington, Kate Mara and Saoirse Ronan.
- Barbarella TV show coming to Amazon Instant: Nicolas Winding Refn, director of Drive, Only God Forgives, Bronson, etc, is bringing the pulpy space heroine to Amazon Instant as one of it’s upcoming original series.
- Margot Robbie in talks for Jane in Tarzan: The breakout co-star of The Wolf of Wall Street, Margot Robbie, is in talks to play Jane in the upcoming live action reboot of Tarzan, starring Alexander Skarsgard and also to co-star in the sci fi post apocalyptic movie Z for Zachariah with Chris Pine and Chiwetel Eljiofor.
