Fall TV 2014: TNT/TBS

The networks that know drama and comedy respectively revealed some of their new series at the upfronts, with TBS trying out some new sitcoms and TNT adding some action/adventure to schedule.

The Transporter (TNT)

Starring: Chris Vance, Andrea Osvárt, Delphine Chanéac, Charly Hübner, François Berléand

Premise: Originally airing on Cinemax, The Transporter follows the continuing the adventures of Frank Martin, a professional freelance courier driver for hire who will deliver anything, anywhere, no questions asked for the right price, and lives by three, unbreakable rules, which he constantly breaks.

The Librarians (TNT)

Starring: Noah Wyle, Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Bob Newhart, Jane Curtin

Premise: Picking up from the original trilogy of Librarian movies, Flynn Carsen leads a team of new recruits on adventures in an effort to save mysterious, ancient artifacts.

Proof (TNT)

Starring: Jennifer Beals, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, Callum Blue, Annie Thurman

Premise: Centers on a skeptical, hard science, female surgeon who’s struggled with family issues including a tragic death. She is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings — all of it looking for verifiable proof, to try to answer one of life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something … beyond?

Public Morals (TNT)

Starring: Ed Burns, Katrina Bowden, Michael Rapaport, Austin Sowell, Patrick Murney, Brian Wiles

Premise: It’s 1967 in New York City’s Public Morals Division, where cops walk the line between morality and criminality as the temptations that comes from dealing with all kinds of vice can get the better of them.

Buzzy’s (TBS)

Starring: Ryan Pinkston, Matt Cook, Mike Castle, George Wendt, Ashley Tisdale, Lauren Lapkus

Premise: A group of kids who ran in different circles in high school now all work together at a local Charlestown, MA, barbershop called Buzzy’s. Their dreams may lie across the Charles River in Boston, but for now, their work, lives, loves and worries remain in the town where they grew up.

Angie Tribeca (TBS)

Starring: Rashida Jones, Jere Burns, Andrée Vermeulen, Deon Cole, Alfred Molina, Quincy Jones, Peggy Lipton

Premise: Police procedural spoof centered on Angie Tribeca, a 10-year veteran of the LAPD’s elite RHCU (Really Heinous Crimes Unit). They’re an eccentric but brilliant group of people who investigate crime, reveal way too much personal information, and refuse to rest until justice has been served — sort of. They are more than counter-intuitive; they are non-intuitive.

Your Family or Mine (TBS)

Starring: Andrew Lees, JoBeth Williams, Richard Dreyfuss

Premise: Adapted from the Israeli series, it revolves around Oliver and Kelli, who are living proof of the adage, “When you marry someone, you don’t just marry them, you marry their whole family.” Each episode focuses on a different side of the family: one week featuring the couple dealing with Kelli’s family, the next spent with Oliver’s
