  • New Alien movie from Neill Blomkamp confirmed: After teasing concept art and going back and forth during interviews for Chappie, it’s officially confirmed that Neill Blomkamp will make a new Alien sequel, that will arrive following Prometheus 2 from Ridley Scott.
  • Settlers of Catan movie or TV show could be on the way: Gail Katz, a producer of movies like Air Force One and The Perfect Storm, has gotten the rights to the modern classic board game, Settlers of Catan, for a possible film or TV series based on the property.

  • Cannibal Holocaust and more getting collectible VHS re-release: Grindhouse Releasing will be putting out a series of cult classics in special edition VHS editions, starting with Cannibal Holocaust and then following it up with Cannibal Ferox, The Beyond, Cat in the Brain and An American Hippie in Israel.
  • Evil Dead series adds another co-star: Jill Marie Jones, most recently seen on Sleepy Hollow, will join Bruce Campbell’s Ash in the upcoming Ash vs Evil Dead series.  Jones will be a skeptical cop who realizes Ash is telling the truth and joins him in his fight against the Deadites.
  • New Line making a new Shaft: New Line is potentially going to reboot the 70’s baddest private dick with a new Shaft film.  John Davis, the producer of Predator, is on board to produce but there’s pretty much no other information.  In the Samuel L Jackson version of the c
  • Possible new Tron game in the works: During an interview with composer Giorgio Moroder at Clash Music, Moroder mentioned that he was working on the score for a new Tron game and was going to be meeting with Skrillex to possibly collaborate.  Disney Interactive has not officially said anything about a new Tron game.
  • Amazon renews three of their new pilots: Amazon has ordered full series for The Man in the High Tower, an alternate history drama based on a Phillip K Dick story, Mad Dogs, a dark comedy crime show from Shawn Ryan and the documentary series, The New Yorker Presents.
  • Guardians of the Galaxy animated series cast announced: Will Friedle will voice Peter Quill, Kevin Michael Richardson will voice Groot, David Sobolov will voice Drax, Trevor Devall will voice Rocket and Vanessa Marshall as Gamorra.  James Arnold Taylor is also featured as Yondu and Cosmo(!).
  • Morena Baccarin joins Deadpool as female lead: The former Firefly cast member and current Gotham cast member is joining the upcoming Deadpool movie as the female lead and “romantic interest” of Wade Wilson.  If we’re going off the current comics, Baccarin would have to be Deadpool’s wife, Shiklah, the demonic queen of the Monsteropolis, as there really hasn’t been any other major love interests in Deadpool’s life but it could just be a random new character.
  • Mission Impossible 5 may halt production to rework ending: According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on MI5 has temporarily halted as director Christopher McQuarrie reworks the ending.  McQuarrie made a brief tweet that seems to imply they are still at work on set.
  • Plot of Pirates 5 revealed: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will apparently follow Jack Sparrow as he seeks out the legendary Trident of Poseidon to stop a vengeful ghost pirate captain, played by Javier Bardem, from killing every pirate on the ocean.
  • Inferno cast announced: The third movie featuring Dan Brown’s symbologist Robert Langdon, played by Tom Hanks, is coming in 2016 and joining Hanks is Felicity Jones, Omar Sy, Irrfan Khan and Sidse Babett Knudsen.  The book and movie follows Langdon as he wakes up in Italy with no memory of how he got there but slowly unravels a world threatening plot that may have something to do with Dante’s Inferno.
  • Jim Starlin developing a Dreadstar TV series: Starlin, who created Thanos for Marvel, among other characters, is turning his original creation, Vanth Dreadstar, into a TV series, possibly heading to an NBC Universal network.  Dreadstar is a space opera that follows the main character, the last survivor of the Milky Way Galaxy, on his adventures through space.
  • Kodi Smit-McPhee is Nightcrawler: Smit-McPhee, most recently seen in Young Ones and Dawn of the Planet of Apes last year, will be playng the young Kurt Wagner aka Nightcrawler in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse.
  • Fox developing comic series Enormous into an “Event Series”: The comic is kind of like The Walking Dead but replace zombies with giant monsters and Fox is looking to turn into an “event series” for possibly 2016.  The comic was turned into a pilot for a web series by Machinima but didn’t turn into a full series.
  • Game of Thrones characters still alive in the books may die on the show: People who have read ahead of HBO’s juggernaut may be losing their safety net according to George RR Martin, who says that the Game of Thrones showrunners will be killing characters on the show who are still alive in the books, although obviously no one specific was mentioned.
