After going through a lot of pre-production woes, including losing a number of directors and star Natalie Portman, Seth Grahame-Smith’s ridiculous mashup of the Jane Austen literary classic and over the top zombie killing action arrives in movie form next February with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Following the same plot as the original novel, where proper English lady Elizabeth Bennett (Lily James) navigates various Reagency era drama including balls and eligible bachelors, things are complicated even further by the plauge of undead stalking the countryside. Luckily, Elizabeth and her sisters have been trained in martial arts and weapons by their father and are able to take down the “stricken” with relative ease. Full disclosure, I never finished the book because, despite the zombies and ninjitsu, the bulk of the novel is still Pride & Prejudice and that’s just not something that’s up my alley but hopefully the movie will be a good blend of the two dueling genres. It’s out on February 5th and you can check out the trailer below.
