  • Defiance cancelled by SyFyThe futuristic western/sci-fi hybrid was cancelled by SyFy this week after airing it’s third season this past Summer.
  • Lego Batman movie adds Rosario DawsonThe recent Daredevil co-star will play Batgirl in The Lego Movie spin-off opposite Will Arnett as Batman and Michael Cera as Robin.
  • Hack/Slash becoming a TV seriesSkip Woods, the writer of both Hitman movies, is writing the pilot script and will be the executive producer of the comic adaptation, which follows a girl named Cassie Hack, who survives a classic horror slasher scenario when she is younger and grows up to hunt down and kill the slashers.
  • Batman v. Superman armor and Batmobile coming to Arkham KnightThe next DLC coming to Arkham Knight will allow you to don the armor and drive the Batmobile from next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.  The DLC will arrive in December.
  • Powers Boothe guest starring on Agents of SHIELDBoothe will play Gideon Malick, a “notorious man whose loyalties remain a mystery”.  In Winter Soldier, Boothe played a member of the World Security Council that Nick Fury had to answer to, but it’s not clear if this is the same character.
  • Hulk will co-star with Thor in Thor: RagnarokMark Ruffalo will join Chris Hemsworth in the next Thor movie, Thor: Ragnarok.  Taika Waititi will direct and it’s supposedly going to be the darkest MCU movie yet.
  • Resident Evil getting rebooted with a new CG movieMarza Animation Planet and Capcom will join forces on a new CG Resident Evil movie.  It won’t have any connection to the previous CG movies and seems like it will be based on the first few games, as it will feature Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers.
  • Hansel & Gretel now becoming a TV seriesThere was talk earlier this year about a new Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters movie but now it seems like it’s being turned into a TV series, most likely on a cable or premium cable network.
  • Two X-Men shows coming to Fox networksAt FX, Noah Hawley, showrunner on Fargo, will produce Legion, which will follow Professor Xavier’s schizophrenic son David Heller, who has multiple personalities that all manifest different mutant powers.  At Fox proper, Hellfire will be set in the 60’s and follow a special agent who is tasked with infilitrating The Hellfire Club and learn about their plan for world domination.
  • Legendary confirms Godzilla/King Kong seriesLegendary confirmed this week that their Godzilla will meet King Kong in 2020, following Skull Island in 2017 and Godzilla 2 in 2018.
  • Y the Last Man becoming a TV series at FXAfter multiple failed attempts to make the comic a movie, FX is developing Y the Last Man into a TV series.  The comic follows Yorick Brown, who finds himself and his pet monkey Ampersand left as the only male mammals alive after something violently kills every other male mammal on Earth.
  • Wargames reboot is now an interactive digital shortWith an all new plot and characters MGM is rebooting WarGames as some sort of interactive movie where the viewer will make choices and effect the outcome.
  • Dino-Riders might be become a movieMattel is apparently working on developing the 80’s toyline Dino-Riders into a movie.  The toy and short lived cartoon found psychic warriors from the future coming to the past and mind controlling dinosaurs, outfitting them with futuristic weaponry and then continuing their war for the planet.
  • Seth Rogen developing a TV series based on The BoysSeth Rogen, currently working on the Preacher series at AMC, is shopping around another violent comic book for a TV series, The Boys.  Written by Garth Ennis, the book follows a five man black ops team who operate in a world full of superheroes and they have to control, and take them out, as necessary.
  • Will Ferrell themed bar opens in NYCOfficially opening on October 25th, Stay Classy is a Will Ferrell themed bar that is located on the Lower East Side and features artwork and cocktails inspired by Ferrell’s filmography.
  • Escape from New York reboot gets a new writer Luther creator Neil Cross is apparently the latest person to write a draft for the long in development Escape from New York reboot at Fox.  John Carpenter recently signed on to executive produce the movie, if it ever happens.
  • Road House reboot gets a directorThe Road House reboot, starring Ronda Rousey, has gotten a new director with Nick Cassavetes, best known for directing The Notebook.  Cassavetes also directed John Q. and Alpha Dog.
  • Possible Moon Knight series in development at MarvelEl Mayimbe, while on a podcast, revealed that he heard Moon Knight might be featured on one of the upcoming Netflix shows, like how Punisher is going to be featured in Daredevil Season 2.  It’s possible if the interest and reception works out, that Mark Spector could get his own series in the future.
  • Die Hard 6 in the worksLen Wiseman, director of Live Free or Die Hard, is returning to the franchise for a prequel, Die Hard: Year One, that will follow John McClane in his early days as a NYPD cop in 1979.  Bruce Willis will appear as John in bookends that will open and close out the movie.
