The Force Awakens continued it’s decimation of the box office with the second highest January weekend of all time and the highest third weekend of all time.  The Force Awakens made another $88.3 million and has made over $740 million for it’s three weeks out, the fastest time to cross $700 million.  It’s closing in on Avatar’s domestic box office and only needs $20 million to take over as the highest grossing domestic release of all time.  Worldwide, it’s the sixth highest grossing movie of all time right now with $1.51 million.

Daddy’s Home remained in second $29 million, bringing it up to $93 million for it’s two weeks out.  It only dropped 25% from last week and seems like the strongest counter-programming to Star Wars.

The Hateful Eight expanded wide and jumped from tenth to third with $16.2 million, and it’s made $29.5 million total from it’s gradual limited release.

Sisters and Alvin and the Chipmunks remained in fourth and fifth respectively and both movies have made almost exactly the same amount for the three weeks they have been out, dropping barely over 10% from last week.

Further down the list, the only big movement was Joy, which dropped from third to sixth with $10.4 million, a drop of about 39% from last weekend.
