Musical Montage: Daredevil/Punisher/Elektra

With Elektra and Punisher probably getting their greatest live action versions this coming Friday on Netflix, it’s important to never forget how dark things were in the pre-MCU era of superhero movies for those characters.  Spider-Man, X-Men and even Blade faired pretty well before Iron Man hit in 2008 (although all three of those franchises took a nose dive in their third entries) but starting with Ben Affleck’s Daredevil in 2003, there was the even worse Elektra, a great Punisher in a terrible movie with Tom Jane and a not nearly crazy enough Nicolas Cage Ghost Rider.  The rights to those characters were scattered to different studios but they all shared the same soundtrack instincts, filling the official movie soundtracks with nu-metal and bro-rock like Drowning Pool, The Calling, Rob Zombie, Seether and Evanescence, who had two of their biggest hits on the Daredevil soundtrack.  Check out some of the songs from those soundtrack below, almost all of them having nothing to do with the movies in their music videos.

Bring Me to Life by Evanescence (Daredevil)

My Immortal by Evanescence (Daredevil)

For You by The Calling (Daredevil)

The Man Without Fear by Rob Zombie (Daredevil)

Broken by Seether feat. Amy Lee (The Punisher)

Step Up by Drowning Pool (The Punisher)

Hollow by Submersed (Elektra)
