  • Beetlejuice musical coming to Broadway: Alex Timbers, who produced Rocky: The Musical, is working on developing Tim Burton’s classic comedy into a new musical for Broadway, for a debut during the 2018-2019 Broadway season.
  • Vin Diesel confirms the Guardians will be in Infinity War: On Facebook, Vin Diesel was doing a live stream and talking about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and he dropped the news that the Guardians will be in Avengers: Infinity War as well.
  • RIP Jack Riley and Kenny Baker:  Two sad deaths this week as Jack Riley, who appeared on a number of shows in the 70’s but probably best known to 90’s kids as the voice of Stu Pickles on Rugrats, passed away and also Kenny Baker, who was inside R2-D2 in pretty much every Star Wars related thing, also passed away at age 81.
  • Wil Traval playing Human Target on Arrow Season 5: Traval, who played Will Simpson on Jessica Jones, will star as DC’s master bodyguard and disguise expert in the upcoming season of Arrow when he takes a contract to protect Mayor Oliver Queen.
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming Casting News: Heroic Hollywood reported that Zendaya will be playing Mary Jane in Spider-Man: Homecoming.  It was originally reported that she would be playing a character named “Michelle”.  It was also revealed on what was reported to be a leaked call sheet that Bokeem Woodbine will be playing The Shocker and most of the comedic cast cast in the last few months will be playing faculty at Peter’s high school.
  • Epcot may be getting a Guardians roller coaster: After confirming they will be turning Disneyland’s Tower of Terror into a Guardians themed drop ride, they may be turning their sights to Epcot and turn the Universe of Energy into a Guardians themed roller coaster.  If it happens, it would replace Ellen’s Energy Adventure that is currently in place.
  • Wreck It Ralph VR Ride may be coming to Disney World: In other Disney World ride rumors, Stitch’s Great Escape, which replaced Alien Encounter at the Magic Kingdom, may get replaced by a Wreck It Ralph VR attraction.  If this happens, the theater where the Stitch attraction takes place in would get all of it’s seats ripped out and Sugar Rush machines would be put in their place.  Guests would then sit at the machines, put on VR headsets and be transported into Sugar Rush to compete with other guests in a race.
  • Godzilla anime movie coming next year: Polygon Studios, who did the animation for Transformers Prime, will be doing a Godzilla anime film that will be released in 2017 but there’s not really any story details or voice cast news but Kobun Shizuno, best known for the Detective Conan series, will direct.
  • Jared Leto completes the Blade Runner 2 cast: Leto is the last cast member confirmed for Blade Runner 2, which is set to be out next October.  Harrison Ford is back as Rick Deckard and is joined by Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Ana De Armas, Barkhad Abdi, Lennie James, Dave Bautista and Mackenzie Davis with Denis Villeneuve directing.
  • CW getting a Lost Boys reboot show: Rob Thomas, showrunner of Veronica Mars and currently iZombie, is developing a reboot of the 80’s vampire classic The Lost Boys for The CW.  Thomas said there’s a plan for seven seasons and each season would be set in a different decade, with The Lost Boys being the only characters who move on in each season and the show would start during the Summer of Love in San Fransisco in 1967.
  • The Man Who Fell to Earth Returning to Theaters: The UK is getting a 4K remaster of The Man Who Fell to Earth, starring the late David Bowie, in September and possibly the US and other regions soon after and the soundtrack will also be released for the first time ever in the fall as well.
  • Fox getting a new comedy based around exorcisms: Allison Silverman, producer of Kimmy Schmidt, and Jon Krisel, co-creator of FX’s Baskets, are working on comedy show called Amy Damnation, which follows a woman named Amy who’s kind of a shy doormat but she learns that when she was a kid, she was possessed by a demon and was a wild terror.  To get control of her life and change things, she tracks down that demon to get it’s help.
  • Hulu getting a Runaways show: Hulu is getting into the Marvel game with an upcoming show based on The Runaways.  The Runaways are group of young heroes who find out that their parents are all part of an evil cabal so, as their name suggest, they run away and steal resources from their parents to help people they meet along the way.  They were created by Brian K. Vaughn in 2003 and have been on the periphery of most of the major Marvel events since then and most recently were forced into a Hunger Games style battle by the villainous Arcade along with the Young Avengers in Avengers Arena.
  • New Clue movie in development: Fox is apparently developing a new version of the Clue board game that will be a “game of ‘worldwide mystery’ with action-adventure elements”  that sounds nothing like Clue and definitely won’t live up to the brilliant farce of the 80’s Clue movie.
  • Konami announces Metal Gear Survive: Konami announced their first Kojimaless, Metal Gear Survive, at the recent Gamescom conference.  Set after Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, it’s set in an alternate dimension where members of the destroyed Mother Base are sucked into a portal and must band together on a strange new world overrun by weird, zombie like creatures.  It’s an up to 4 player co-op action game and will be out sometime next year.
  • Detective Pikachu movie gets screenwriters: Alex Hirsch, creator of Gravity Falls, and Nicole Perlman, co-writer of Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor, are teaming up for the script for the live action Detective Pikachu movie that was announced shortly after Pokemon Go exploded.
  • Mr. Robot renewed for a third season: USA’s hacking drama will return for a third season next year.  Live viewership is dropping from the first season but delayed and streaming numbers are still strong.
  • Jack Ryan show going direct to series at Amazon: Amazon is skipping their usual pilot season program for their Jack Ryan series and have greenlit for a 10 episode first season.  John Krasinski, who showed how he could fare as an action star in 13 Hours, will star as Tom Clancy’s most famous CIA agent.
  • Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg producing new FX show Singularity: Rogen and Goldberg will produce a new comedy for FX created by Silicon Valley writer Sonny Lee called Singularity, which is set in the future where AI greatly surpasses human intelligence and has a similar tone to This is the End.
  • Kyle Chandler may be a potential Cable for Deadpool 2: The Bloodline/Friday Night Lights star is apparently one of the names being tossed around to possibly play Cable in Deadpool 2 and Mackenzie Davis, of Halt and Catch Fire, may be one of the names for Domino.
  • Black Superman suit may appear in Justice League: Henry Cavill put out a mysterious photo on Instagram that seems to suggest Superman may be wearing his black Superman costume for at least some of Justice League, which would match the comics storyline of Superman returning from the dead but being depowered and wearing a black suit.
  • Roger Corman Fantastic Four documentary gets a release date: Doomed, a documentary about the never released Roger Corman version of Fantastic Four, will be released on VOD on October 11th and DVD on December 20th.
  • New Call of Duty zombie mode revealed: For Infinite Warfare, the zombie mode will be the 80’s themed Zombies in Spaceland.  Ike Barinholtz, Jay Pharoah, Seth Green and Sasheer Zamata will star as stereotypical 80’s teens like The Jock and The Nerd who are lured to a zombie filled theme park by an evil horror movie icon played by Paul Reubens but they get some help from a DJ played by David Hasselhoff.
  • Robert Downey Jr developing a Perry Mason series for HBO: RDJ and Nic Pizzolatto, creator of True Detective, are working on Perry Mason series for HBO, that RDJ would star in if it gets picked up.  Raymond Burr most famously played the investigator/defense lawyer in the 60’s TV show.  RDJ has been trying to develop something Perry Mason related for years, being attached to a movie version that never happened.
  • Cartoon Network brawler coming to PS4: All the current Cartoon Network characters are teaming up for for a new old school side scrolling brawler coming exclusively to PS4 called Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers.  You can play as Steven Universe, Jake and Finn, Mordecai and Rigby, Uncle Grandpa, Clarence and Gumball as they team up to save the universe.  It’s out in November.
