  • Rambo getting a Stalloneless Reboot: After multiple attempts to get a fifth Rambo off the ground, Nu Image/Millennium is moving forward with Rambo: New Blood, a reboot of the franchise that will put a younger actor in the role of John Rambo, as they are treating the character like James Bond where multiple actors can play the role.  Ariel Vromen, who directed Criminal this past spring, will direct.
  • Deadpool 2 may be directed by John Wick’s David Leitch: After the shocking news last week that director Tim Miller left Deadpool 2 due to creative differences, it seems that John Wick director David Leitch may be the new front runner to direct but other reports say Drew Goddard and Magnus Martens, who’s directed a bunch TV like episodes of Luke Cage, Agents of SHIELD, Banshee and 12 Monkeys, are also possibly in the running.
  • Peter Jackson moving forward with Mortal Engines: Peter Jackson is moving forward with his next epic project, which is an adaptation of Phillip Reeve’s Mortal Engines series of books, where giant roaming cities roam a post apocalyptic world battling each other for resources.  Jackson is producing and his protege Christian Rivers will be directing with Universal is behind the movie and it will begin production next spring in New Zealand.
  • Next Cloverfield movie is God Particle: The next movie in JJ Abrams Cloverfield Universe will be God Particle, which follows a group of astronauts on a space station who “make a terrifying discovery that challenges all they know about the fabric of reality, even as they desperately fight for their survival”.  David Oyelowo, Gubu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl and Chris O’Dowd make up the cast and Julius Onah, who has directed a number of shorts, will direct.
  • Jim Gaffigan joins Fargo Season 3: Comedian Jim Gaffigan has joined the already stacked cast of Fargo Season 3 as Donny Mashman, a deputy under Carrie Coon’s Gloria Burgle, who is the chief of police in Edna Valley where the season will take place.
  • Gerard Butler back for a third “… Has Fallen” movie: Gerard Butler will be back as bad ass Secret Service agent Mike Banning for Angel Has Fallen, where this time he will be the target of the terrorists and Air Force One, which is codenamed Angel, will be threatened as well.
  • Muppet Babies getting rebooted: Muppet Babies is coming back to Disney Junior in a new CG TV show that will debut sometime in 2018.  A preview photo was released that gives us our look at the new baby versions of Fozzy, Kermit and Miss Piggy:

  • The Punisher set for 2017Jon Bernthal’s Punisher series is arriving next year, most likely between the March release of Iron Fist and the fall release of The Defenders.  Based on the casting and the comics, one of the villains seems to be William Rawlins, a corrupt CIA agent who forms a terrorist cell.
  • Knight Rider getting rebooted: Despite being awful, I believe the MacGyver reboot is doing well and I know the Lethal Weapon reboot is doing well so NBC is looking to bring back Knight Rider for a digital series on Machinima from Justin Lin.  The series will possibly hit in 2017 and will hopefully be better than the terrible 2008 reboot that was cancelled after a few episodes.
  • George Lucas not involved with the story of Indiana Jones 5: One of the things that made Kingdom of the Crystal Skull so bad was George Lucas’ contributions to the story i.e Aliens but, much like Star Wars, Disney has seemingly barred the beared one from putting in his two cents as screenwriter David Koepp says that he hasn’t had any contact with Lucas and doesn’t think he’s involved.
  • NBC developing a Sneakers TV show: NBC is developing the hacker classic Sneakers into a TV show.  The 1992 movie stars Robert Redford, Dan Aykroyd, Ben Kingsley, Mary McDonnell, River Phoenix, Sidney Poitier and David Stratharn and followed a group of white hat hackers who are tasked by the NSA to steal a decoder, which the group realizes could break any encryption in the world.
