  • Workaholics ending after seventh season: The Comedy Central comedy show will end after the upcoming seventh season.  During season 5, the show was picked up for two more seasons and Adam, Ders and Blake have decided to end the show, “on a HIGH note”
  • Ciaran Hinds cast in Justice League: Most recently seen in Game of Thrones and Hitman: Agent 47, Ciaran Hinds has been cast as the villain Steppenwolf in Justice League. Hinds will provide the voice and mo-cap performance but the charcter will be CG.  Steppenwolf was hinted at in BvS in a deleted scene and is one of the main underlings to Darkseid.
  • Furby getting a movie: Capitalizing at the height of it’s popularity, The Weinstein Company is developing a movie based on the 90’s hit toy that will be a CG/live action hybrid but besides that, there really isn’t any other info
  • The Simpsons renewed for 29th and 30th seasons: They’ll never stop The Simpsons as the show is coming back for a 29th and 30th season.  The most recent Treehouse of Horror episode was the 600th episode with the these two upcoming seasons, the show will become the longest running scripted series in history, breaking Gunsmoke’s record breaking run.
  • Voltron getting a live action movieSolid Snake himself, David Hayter, is writing a script for a new Voltron live action movie for Universal.  Universal got the rights to Voltron thanks to a deal with Dreamworks Animation, which is behind the Voltron cartoon on Netflix.
  • Bucky O’Hare returning in action figure form: The 90’s toad fighting space bunny will be back with the crew of the Righteous Indignation in a new collectible figure line from Boss Fight Studio.  The new toys will be 4″, highly articulated figures and will feature Bucky and his crew and some Toad villains.
  • Sony rearranges schedule: Jumanji has been moved from summer next year to December 22nd as The Dark Tower was delayed and moved into Jumanji’s July 28th spot.  The Equalizer 2 has been bumped all the way back to Fall 2018 and Edgar Wright’s next movie, Baby Driver, will be released on August 11th of next summer, moved from spring of next year.  Finally, the Flatliners reboot is going from August to September next year.
  • Raid director directing new movie Apostle: Gareth Evans, who has brought us two of the best action movies of the last decade with The Raid and The Raid 2, is directing a new action movie called Apostle, that will star Dan Stevens as a man who goes to a remote island to rescue his sister from an evil cult.  The movie will be a period film but the time period and most other aspects are unknown right now.
  • Starship Troopers getting rebooted: Although Paul Verhoeven directed the definitive version of Starship Troopers, Columbia Pictures is looking to reboot the series in a new movie closer to the original Robert Heinlein novel with the Baywatch reboot writers, Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, are writing a script.
  • Pretty much the entire cast is back for Big Hero 6 show: Big Hero 6 is coming to Disney XD as new series next year and pretty much the entire voice cast will be back for the show.  Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit, Jamie Chung, Genesis Rodriguez, Alan Tudyk, Maya Rudolph, David Shaughnessy and Stan Lee(!) will all be back to voice their respective characters and guests like Andrew Scott of Sherlock and Andy Richter will be featured as well.  The only two main cast members not returning are TJ Miller and Damon Wayans Jr.
  • Steven Seagal granted Russian citizenship and spokeman for World of Warships: Since he’s become BFFs with Russian president Vladimir Putin, Steven Seagal this week was offered full Russian citizenship but it’s not clear whether he will accept yet.  It was also revealed this week that Seagal is now the spokesperson for World of Warships, the free to play battleship simulator from the same company behind World of Tanks.
  • Goon sequel coming to Canada in spring: The sequel to Goon, Goon: Last of the Enforcers, is coming to the hockey loving country of Canada in March next year but there was no other news of releases elsewhere.  The new Goon sequel finds Sean William Scott’s Doug Glatt retired after the events of the first Goon but he’s called back for one last season as a brutal hockey bully by his team the Halifax Highlanders.  Liev Schreiber and Allison Pill are back from the first Goon and TJ Miller, Wyatt Russell and Elisha Cuthbert are joining the cast.
  • Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon free starting next week: Ubisoft is giving away one of the most badass games of all time, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, for free starting next week on November 9th.  You have to be a member Ubisoft Club to have access but the game is also going part of Xbox’s Games for Gold program for free on November 15th.
  • Ecto Cooler disappearing again after this year: Brought back to much nostalgic love, Ecto Cooler will disappear at the end of year.  Brought back to tie into the new Ghostbusters, the tangerine drink has been available in stores in juice box and canned form and has been frequently selling out on Amazon and other locations.
  • Arrow adding adult Talia Al Ghul: Lexa Doig, from Continuum and Stargate SG-1, will be playing the grown up Talia al Ghul in the upcoming tenth episode of Arrow this season.  The first appearance of Talia in the Arrowverse was in Legends of Tomorrow last season when the team visited the 60’s.
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan will be featured in new action movie: Two action legends will be featured in an upcoming Russian/Chinese action/adventure movie Journey to China: The Iron Mask Mystery.  It’s actually a sequel to a movie that was popular in Russia in 2014 and stars Jason Flemyng as Jonathan Green, an adventurer who is tasked by Peter the Great to travel to the Far East and map the region.  Jackie Chan and Arnold will be some of the people Green will meet along the way along with Charles Dance and Martin Klebba.  The movie will be released in Russia in 2017 and maybe in other areas later.
  • Timeless gets more episodes: NBC’s time travel adventure show will be getting 3 more episodes, putting it up to 16 total for it’s first season.  After those 16 episodes, the show will tag out so NBC’s Taken prequel show can start in February.
  • New cast members for Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later: The next season of Wet Hot madness over on Netflix has gotten some new cast members in addition to pretty much everyone in the main cast coming back.  Jai Courtney will play Amy Poehler’s love interest while Samm Levine and Marlo Thomas will be regulars as well in the new season that is based on a joke in the original movie where the camp gang vows to come back ten years after the events of the movie to see how everyone is doing.
  • Stranger Things confirms Eleven will be back: Mille Bobby Brown is confirmed to be coming back for season 2 of Stranger Things as the powerful, telekinetic Eleven, although it’s not clear what episodes she will return in and for how long.
  • From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series may be done: El Rey’s main original series may be coming to an end as the contracts for the cast are up following the recently finished third season and have not been renewed yet.  The network will make a final decision in 2017 but the third season finale did have a sort of “series finale” vibe, including a montage of the cast at the end.
  • Escape Plan getting a sequel: The Stallone/Arnold team up Escape Plan is getting a sequel with Stallone signed on but no sign of Arnold yet.  Stallone will be in a more supporting role for the sequel and presumably a younger action star will be placed into a supposedly inescapable prison.
  • Star Trek/Aliens crossover announced: Dark Horse and IDW will team up next year when the Star Trek: The Next Generation crew will discover the horror of the Xenomorphs.  The team behind the book did another Star Trek crossover with Doctor Who and this new crossover will arrive possibly in April 2017.
  • New Turtles movie franchise most likely done: After Out of the Shadows did not live up to expectations, producer Andrew Form said that the rebooted series is most likely done and that there will probably be a new reboot in the future.
  • RL Stine will be writing a Marvel comic: The Goosebumps creator announced this past week that he will be writing his first ever comic series for Marvel but the details of it were not revealed, so it’s not clear if he will stay in the horror realm or do something different.
  • Snow White getting rebooted by Disney: As everything is getting rebooted by Disney, Snow White was announced this week as one of the upcoming live action movies.  There’s no casting or director news but it seems like there will be a new songs from the duo behind the music of the upcoming La La Land.
