  • Aquaman release date confirmed: James Wan’s take on Aquaman with Jason Momoa has been pushed back to October 5th of 2018, back from the summer of 2018.  The Flash with Ezra Miller will come out in spring of 2018.
  • Mister Mxyzptlk coming to Supergirl: Since her move to The CW, Supergirl has gotten much more comic booky with references to Lex Luthor and Batman and Superman arriving to kick off the season and that will continue in the second half of the season when classic villain Mister Mxyzptlk will arrive in National City for two episodes.
  • Jackie Chan may star in Joe Carnahan’s Five Against a Bullet: Joe Carnahan is attached to an action movie called Five Against a Bullet, where five international bodyguards are brought together to protect a Mexican politician against a drug cartel that has already killed his daughter.  Jackie Chan is rumored to be in talks to play one of the bodyguards and at one time, Stallone was possibly going to be involved as well, but that unfortunately did not pan out.
  • Harry Potter and the Cursed Child coming to Broadway: Having been running this year in London, the continuation of the Harry Potter story is coming to NYC in the spring of 2018 if the negotations finalize.  The show will be at the Lyric Theater and, if everything goes through, the theater will be completely remodeled to handle the massive play.
  • HBO and Cinemax available on Amazon Prime: You can now add HBO and Cinemax subscriptions to your Amazon Prime account on Amazon, which already had Starz and a few other services available as add-ons.  HBO is $14.99, the same as standalone HBO Now, and Cinemax is $9.99.
  • Rob Letterman directing Detective Pikachu movie: The Goosebumps director has been hired to direct the live action/CG hybrid Detective Pikachu movie that is coming soon from Legendary Pictures.  Alex Hirsch and Nicole Perlman were previously hired to write the script.
  • Billy Dee Williams playing Lego Two Face in The Lego Batman Movie: Almost 30 years in the making, Billy Dee Williams will finally get to fulfill the promise of Tim Burton’s Batman when he will play Harvey Dent/Two-Face in the upcoming Lego Batman movie.
  • First Look at Power Rangers’ Alpha 5:

  • Netflix adds offline playback: Netflix has added one of their most requested features since they added streaming which is the ability to download TV shows and movies for playback when there is no internet available.  Amazon Prime has allowed you to do this for a few years now and it’s a godsend for things like plane flights.  Currently the downloading is limited to mostly Netflix Originals and some select other TV shows and movies.
  • Star Trek Discovery cast starts to form: The crew of the new Star Trek is starting to come together with Michelle Yeoh cast as Captain Georgiou, captain of the USS Shenzhou, Anthony Rapp will play Lt. Stamets, one of the Discovery’s science officers and Doug Jones will play the alien Lt. Saru, another science officer.
  • Universal Studios getting Nintendo attactions at three parks: A while back, there was the announcement of a deal between Universal and Nintendo to bring Nintendo attractions to their parks and this week it was confirmed that Universal Japan, Hollywood and Orlando will be getting Nintendo rides, shops and restaurants.  Shigeru Miyamoto is very involved in the design process and was featured in Universal’s announcement video.
  • RIP Ron Glass and Florence Henderson: Ron Glass, best known for his roles on Firefly and Barney Miller, passed away at age 71 while Florence Henderson, obviously best known as Carol Brady on the Brady Bunch, passed away at age 82.
  • Kingsman: The Golden Circle moved back: The sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service was originally set for June 2017 but now will be debuting in October next year, head to head against Blade Runner 2049.
  • Dan Trachtenberg directing a Houdini movie: The 10 Cloverfield Lane director has signed on to direct an adaptation of the book “The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero”, which is a fictionalized take on Harry Houdini that sets him as a secret agent taking on the occult.
