Office Christmas Party opened in second with $16.9 million, $5 million better than Sisters’ opening last year at the same time and well above Bad Santa 2’s opening from a few weeks ago.  It’s also better than the opening of Horrible Bosses 2 but nowhere near Horrible Bosses 1.

Fantastic Beasts dropped to third with $10.4 million, putting it over $198 million for it’s four weeks out and it’s made over $682 million worldwide.

In it’s first weekend, La La Land made $881,000 in only five theaters, giving it the highest per theater average of the year and the 10th highest opening per theater average of all time.  It opens wide this weekend opposite Rogue One but it’s gotten critical acclaim and counter programming to possibly stay competitive.
