  • Returning characters for Deadpool 2: Some of Wade’s friends from Deadpool will be back for Deadpool 2 as screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick confirmed Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Dopinder the cab driver will be back for the sequel.
  • RIP William Peter Blatty: Author William Peter Blatty passed away at age 89 this week.  He was the author of The Exorcist and wrote the screenplay for the movie and also contributed to Exorcist III and directed the movie The Ninth Configuration.
  • Beauty and the Beast duet revealed: For the upcoming live action Beauty and the Beast, it’s been revealed that Ariana Grande and John Legend will be doing a new version of the title song duet that was originally sung by Angela Lansbury in the movie and performed by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson for the “pop” version.
  • Green Lantern Corps movie gets writers: David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes will be starting on a script for the upcoming Green Lantern Corps movie for the DCEU and it was revealed the movie will feature both Hal Jordan and John Stewart in a “Lethal Weapon in Space” type movie.
  • Robbie Amell returning to The Flash: The original 1/2 of Firestorm, Robbie Amell is returning to The Flash in some capacity later this season, despite dying to save the world in the season 1 finale and then returning and also dying as the villainous Deathstorm in season 2 on Earth-2.
  • FX reveals premiere dates: Archer will return on April 5th on FX for it’s noir season while The Americans is back March 7th and new show, Feud, will debut March 5th and is Ryan Murphy’s campy spin on the behind the scenes drama between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford on the set of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
  • Gus Fring is back in Better Call Saul: Hinted at at the end of last season, Breaking Bad big bad Gus Fring will return in Better Call Saul this upcoming third season, as confirmed by actor Giancarlo Esposito.  The show is back sometime this spring.
  • Peter Dinklage joins Avengers: Infinity War: The Game of Thrones has apparently signed on for the upcoming third and fourth Avengers movies in an unknown but “pivotal” role.  Comic book creator Rob Liefeld tweeted out a theory that he’ll play Pip, who’s Jim Starling created cosmic character with ties to both Thanos and Adam Warlock, and other fans theorized/hope he might be playing MODOK.
  • The Coens developing a western TV show: The Coen Brothers are coming to TV, as they are developing a western anthology series called The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.  There’s no plot details or what network it might be on but you can be sure there will probably be a bidding war for the Coens first foray to the small screen.
  • Daniel Wu joins Tomb Raider: The martial artist star of Into the Badlands has joined the Tomb Raider movie as Captain Lu Ren, who commands the ship that Lara hires on her quest.  Alicia Vikander is playing Lara and Walton Goggins is the villain.
  • Disney introduces “MaxPass” to Disneyland: Disney is introducing a paid Fastpass upgrade to Disneyland called MaxPass that will allow guests to book Fastpasses on their mobile device without having to go to the Fastpass kiosks in front of the rides and also features unlimited PhotoPass downloads for $10 a day.  Matterhorn and Toy Story Mania at Disneyland are also getting Fastpass kiosks added to them.
  • Woody Harrelson joins Han Solo movie: Rumored last year, Harrelson was officially confirmed to be joining the cast of the Han Solo spin-off movie that features Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover and Emilia Clarke.  Harrelson’s character wasn’t revealed but he will be some sort of mentor character to the young Han Solo.
  • Wonder Woman villain possibly revealed: Although it’s translated from a French film magazine, it seems like the villain of Wonder Woman will be Ares, who would definitely have an interest in the “war to end all wars”.  Danny Huston has been seen as the main villain the trailers but it’s not clear if he’s an incognito Ares or if Ares will emerge as a secondary villain.
  • Original cast members may be back for Pacific Rim: Uprising: Based on a behind the scenes photo with a call list in frame, it seems like Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Burn Gorman will all be back for Pacific Rim: Uprising.  It seemed like Karl Urban’s name was on the list as well but he unfortunately tweeted out that that wasn’t the case.
  • Microsoft cancels Scalebound: Showing at at least the two previous E3s, Scalebound was going to be the newest game from Platinum, who made Bayonetta and Transformers: Devastation.  The game was going to feature up to four player co-op with players teaming up with dragons to take on other giant monsters but Microsoft announced this week the game was cancelled.  The last two Platinum games, Star Fox Zero and TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan, were both not well received.
  • Twin Peaks gets release date: One of the most anticipated events of 2017 by many is the return of Twin Peaks on Showtime and now the release date has been revealed as May 24th.  The new season will be 18 episodes and the premiere will be the first two.  Kyle MacLachlan is returning as FBI agent Dale Cooper and David Lynch has been overseeing the entire revival.
  • Shout Factory bringing back Starcade: Along with bringing back MST3K to Netflix, Shout Factory has acquired the rights to the cult 80’s gameshow Starcade and plans to bring it back in a “retro-boot”.  Starcade featured two kid contestant’s answering trivia questions, with the person answering correctly getting to choose what arcade cabinet they would compete against each other on.  The contestant with the most points at the end of three rounds got to go to the bonus round for a shot at big prizes.  Shout Factory has said the new Starcade will featured celebrities, e-sports competitors and pro gamers competing.
  • CW DC News: The CW had a press event last weekend and confirmed that all four of the Arrowverse shows will be back for another season and that the Music Meister will be the villain of the upcoming Flash/Supergirl crossover episode.  They also confirmed that Matt Ryan’s Constantine will be back in an animated show for CW Seed, similar to the Vixen show they currently have.
