Musical Montage: America “The Last Unicorn”

Based on the 1968 fantasy novel by Peter S. Beagle, The Last Unicorn was adapted into an animated movie in 1982 by Rankin and Bass, the team behind Rudolph, Thundercats and The Hobbit animated film.  Starring Mia Farrow as the titular Last Unicorn, she sets out to try and defeat the evil Red Bull, who has herded the other unicorns to the ends of the earth.  She gets into various adventures along the way, including being turned into a human by a magician, and falls in love with a human prince.  Folk rock band America performed the title song of the movie and an orchestral version could be heard throughout the movie.  Kenny Loggins covered the song later on his album Return to Pooh Corner and Ninja Sex Party performed an incredible cover version in 2015 to help promote a touring presentation of the movie.  Check out the original and Ninja Sex Party versions below.
