The Massacre Begins in Leatherface (Trailer)

The Texas Chainsaw franchise continues this fall with a movie going back to the origins of the movie’s central killer, Leatherface, in the self-titled prequel.  The movie follows a quartet of young inmates who escape from a mental institution with a nurse as a hostage and kill their way in a rampage across Texas that draws the attention of police office Hal Hartman (Stephen Dorff) and one of the inmates will end up transformed into the human skin wearing, chainsaw wielding murderer.  Sam Strike, James Bloor, Jessica Madsen and Sam Coleman are the main quartet and Lili Taylor and Vanessa Grasse appear as well and French horror directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are behind the camera.  The duo was originally signed on to both Halloween II before Rob Zombie returned and the reboot of Hellraiser and this movie looks very much influenced by the former, not just the Zombie Halloween films, with their extended focus on Michael Myers beginnings, but also the “insane murderers on a rampage” style of The Devil’s Rejects.  The movie will arrive exclusively on DirecTV on September 21st and then will hit VOD and limited theaters on October 20th.  Check out the red band trailer below.
