  • WB Apparently Wants DiCaprio as The Joker: For The Joker origin movie WB announced last week, they had said they would not use Jared Leto and now they are apparently hoping producer Martin Scorsese can land them Leonardo DiCaprio as The Joker.  Jared Leto is apparently pretty pissed about the multiple actors playing The Joker and the whole thing just seems destined for disaster.
  • Capcom bringing Puzzle Fighter to mobile: Capcom’s classic puzzle vs. game is coming to Android and iOS devices late this year.  This is a whole new game and features characters from across Capcom’s catalog, including Jill Valentine, Mike Haggar, Ryu, Morrigan, Frank West and more.
  • True Detective Season 3 is officially a Go: HBO confirmed that a new season of True Detective is officially on the way with Mahershala Ali as one of the stars.  The new season will be set in the Ozarks and feature a storyline that expands across three separate time periods. Creator Nic Pizzolatto wrote every episode and co-wrote the fourth episode with Deadwood’s David Milch and and Pizzolatto will direct with Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier.  There’s no word on how many episodes or when the show will air.
  • Titans TV series casts Dick Grayson: Brenton Thwaites, star of Pirates 5 and Gods of Egypt, will be playing Dick Grayson/Nightwing for the upcoming Teen Titans show Titans, which will be exclusive to the upcoming DC streaming service WB is developing.  Anna Diop from 24: Legacy was also cast recently as Starfire and Beast Boy, Raven and Cyborg are expected to be featured in the show as well.
  • WB planning an all-female Lord of the Flies reboot: WB announced this week they are planning on making a new version of the classic book Lord of the Flies except this time all the young children stranded on the island will be girls.  Scott McGehee and David Siegel will write and direct the movie and previously have directed movies like Bee Season and What Maise Knew.
  • Terry O’Quinn joins Castle Rock: Another big addition to the mysterious Stephen King Hulu series Castle Rock was announced this week as Terry O’Quinn joined the cast as Dale Lacy “a pillar of the Castle Rock community”.  It’s still not clear what Castle Rock is going to be about but it will possibly weave together or at least reference multiple King stories.
  • Game of Thrones may not be back until 2019: After the epic season finale last weekend, the wait for the final season of Game of Thrones is apparently going to be a long one.  The final season of 6 episodes will begin production in October this year and will shoot until August of next year, so the final season will not air until Spring/Summer 2019.  Each of the final episodes will be the same length or longer than the season finale, which was 82 minutes, so basically 6 movies.
  • You Can’t Do That on Television getting a reboot: One of the OG Nickelodeon shows, You Can’t Do That on Television, is getting a reboot.  Producer Jimmy Fox and original creaton Roger Price are looking to make a new, modern version of the sketch show and it may not return to Nick, as no network was announced yet.
  • Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevinge starring in Carnival Row: Amazon’s upcoming, insane sounding, show Carnival Row, which features a steampunk version of Victorian England that is co-habitated by humans and fantasy creatures.  Orlando Bloom has been cast to star as police officer Rycroft Philostrate, who is investigating the murder of a fairy.  Cara Delevinge will play Vignette Stonemoss, a refugee fairy living on the human side of the city.  The show will be eight episodes but does not have a solid release date yet.
