Musical Montage: Michael Damian “Rock On”

Soap Operas have produced a strangely high number of actors who also turn into pop music icons, especially in the 80’s and 90’s.  From the heights of Rick Springfield to…well….The Heights there have been various cast members of soaps like General Hospital and The Young and the Restless for today’s featured artist, Michael Damian.  Damian actually started out in music, appearing in his family’s band The Weirz and then scoring a hit in 1981 by covering Eric Carmen’s “She Did It” and then appearing for 12 years on The Young and The Restless.  In 1989, Damian performed another cover for the insane Corey Haim/Corey Feldman movie Dream a Little Dream of David Essex’s “Rock On” and it exploded and is without a doubt way more widely remembered than the movie that spawned it.  The song was a massive hit, going to number 1 on the Billboard charts and was certified gold.  Feldman, Haim and co-star Meredith Salanger all appeared on stage with Damian for the music video of Rock On and it features clips from the movie as well, check it out below.
