The First Trailer for Solo is Here

Solo: A Star Wars Story finally had it’s coming out party during Super Bowl LII and the full trailer expands slightly on it’s Big Game spot.  Alden Ehrenreich, who drew praise for his role in the Coen Brothers’ Hail Caesar!, takes on the unenviable task of trying to deliver the same charm and roguishness of late 70’s Harrison Ford as the young Han Solo, who joins a crew for some sort of job led by Woody Harrelson’s Tobias Beckett.  That crew also include Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian, who’s played by a seemingly perfectly cast Donald Glover, along with Thandie Newton’s unnamed characters.  Emilia Clarke also co-stars as Qi’ra, who seems to have a history with the young smuggler.  Ron Howard came in to complete the movie after a extremely messy and public firing of comedy directing duo Lord & Miller by Disney but the movie actually looks OK despite the behind the scenes mess and lateness of any sort of promotion, although I don’t think anyone is sold on Alden Ehrenreich’s Han based on this trailer but hopefully it pans out in the full movie.  The movie arrives on May 25th and you can check out the trailer below.
