Musical Montage: Miguel ft Natalia Lafourcade “Remember Me”

Not surprisingly, on top of Coco winning Best Animated Feature last night at the 90th Academy Awards, its main soundtrack song, “Remember Me” also one Best Original Song, which makes sense considering one of Coco’s driving forces is the power of music.  Written by Frozen songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the song is sung by various characters throughout the film, including Benjamin Bratt’s Ernesto De La Cruz, main character Miguel, played by Anthony Gonzalez and Gael Garcia Bernal’s Hector Rivera and links “multiple generations in the shared love of music”.  Robert Lopez’s win makes him a multiple time EGOT recipient, having also won multiple Grammy, Tony and Emmy awards.  Pop stars Miguel and Natalia Lafourcade performed a version of “Remember Me” over the credits of Coco and also starred in a music video, which you can check out below.
