The Pull List – Quantum And Woody #4

After spending a full day on a plane, reminiscing about the family goat, brotherly bickering and annoying Negative One, Quantum and Woody finally arrive in Sydney Australia. Woody is still bitter about Eric withholding the information about his biological father Rutherford Van Chelton. He feels that it wasn’t something that should had been kept a secret. Woody travels with Negative One to the location of her mysterious benefactor, dragging an upset Eric along the way. The two brothers will finally meet the person who promises a reunion with Woody’s father and the ability to separate the two brothers from their quantum energy bond.

Issue #4 sheds some light on the conspiracy that turned Quantum and Woody from super heroes to a warehouse guard and a drunk (Or just plain Woody). Fans that have read the prior volumes will remember that Quantum and Woody fought Thomas Edison and his league of evil scientist, resulting in many mishaps and explosions. There is a slight reference to previous events, but Woody rudely shouts “Everyone already knows this stuff” and that halts the flashback, so blame him if you aren’t in the loop at this point. The reveal of the mysterious benefactor is obviously and clever, making a hilarious point if you had know Thomas Edison. Spoiler Alert, it’s not Topsy. (But that would’ve been cool, right?). The benefactor turns out to be a great great grandson of Nikola Tesla, who has called himself Kid Tesla. The descendant of Nikola Tesla has sworn revenge on Thomas Edison and all that follow him, continuing the great rivalry between the two inventors. Kid Tesla needs Quantum and Woody in order to achieve his plans, but at what cost?

As usual with the series, the visuals and dialogue will put a smile on your face. Australia seems to be a chill place that doesn’t mind costumed people and twelve feet tall living Hedge monsters. Hidden away in the down under is Woody’s long lost father and this apple didn’t fall far from the tree. This time the father and son reunion isn’t as heartwarming like it was in the last issue (The one with a goat that birthed a grown man) but it fits nicely with what would happen with two Woody’s. More details about Woody’s father, Kid Tesla and what Woody will do about his brother will be revealed in next month’s issue.

Quantum And Woody #4 will be on sale March 21 2018
