After carefully examining the corpses of two unknown men, Usagi and Inspector Ishida discover a Kirishitan (Japanese Christian) tailsman. Under orders of the Shogun, Kirishitan has been ban and the remaining believers trend carefully in Japan. Deducing that these murdered bodies have high connections to others, Usagi and Inspector Ishida set off to find answers with the city gate keepers and being to follow the trail to those responsible.
The introduction to Kirishitans and the way they are treated reflects heavy on real life events that took place in 16th century feudal Japan. Stan Sakai mixes fantasy with a touch of historical fiction to keep the focus on a rabbit with a sword from straying too far in reality. Usagi and Inspector Ishida investigation leads to hunt for answers about Kirishitan, something that the community at the time was very uncomfortable to answer. Usagi faces a new era, one that dislikes the past world that he had fought in, and is closing off from outside ideas. However, greed and violence never grows stale and Usagi offers his service to help Inspector Ishida solve this case.
