  • Castlevania Season 2 pushed back: Netflix has pushed back the return of their Castlevania animated series to October 26th, just in time for Halloween, with 8 new episodes that will continue it’s take on Castlevania III.
  • RIP Steve Ditko: Comic legend Steve Ditko passed away at age 90 this past week.  Ditko co-created Spider-Man with Stan Lee and also co-created Doctor Strange at Marvel before moving over to DC, where he co-created The Question, Captain Atom and other characters and eventually returned to Marvel in the 90’s and created Squirrel Girl.
  • John Wick 3 gets official title: The upcoming third entry in the John Wick franchise has an official title, John Wick 3: Parabellum.  The title is a reference to part of the famous Latin quote: “If you want peace, prepare for war”.  The movie arrives on May 17th next year.
  • Keri Russell joins Star Wars Episode IX: Fresh off her incredible run on The Americans, Keri Russell is joining the Star Wars universe for the upcoming Episode IX.  In typical Star Wars fashion, there’s no details about who she’s playing although the rumor mill is already running with theories that she may be Rey’s mother.
  • Live action Gundam movie on the way: Legendary Pictures is bringing Gundam to the big screen in a live action adaptation of the classic anime series.  Sunrise, the studio that created and still produces new Gundam series, is co-producing with Legendary.
  • Nicolas Cage joins Into the Spider-Verse: Into the Spider-Verse just got weirder as Nicolas Cage has joined the voice cast as Spider-Man Noir.  Noir was last seen in a significant way in the Shattered Dimensions video game for PS3/Xbox 360 and this seems to hint that this movie may be hiding an insane plot that is close to the Spider-Verse comic crossover where every iteration of the wall crawler, from Peter Parker to Peter Porker, teamed up to face a dimension hopping threat.
  • Idris Elba joins Hobbs & Shaw: Idris Elba has signed on to be the villain of the upcoming Hobbs & Shaw Fast & Furious spin-off featuring the characters played by The Rock and Jason Statham.  Vanessa Kirby, co-star on The Crown, also joined the cast this week as Hattie Shaw, the little sister to Deckard and Owen.  The movie is looking at a July 26th release next summer.
  • MGM rebooting the Child’s Play franchise: MGM is going back to zero for a reboot of the Child’s Play franchise.  A new movie that will completely reset and redo Chucky is in the works.  Lars Klevberg is signed on to direct from a script by Tyler Burton Smith, who co-wrote the upcoming Kung Fury movie.  The new movie will apparently turn Chucky into an advanced robotic toy that goes haywire as opposed to the voodoo curse/serial killer’s soul angle of the original.  For fans of OG Chucky, there is apparently still a Child’s Play TV series in development that is coming from creator Don Mancini and Chucky actor Brad Dourif and will continue the story of the Chucky we know and love.
  • Miles Teller cast in Top Gun: Maverick: Miles Teller has been cast as the son of Goose in the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick opposite Tom Cruise, making his return as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.  There’s really no details about what the plot of this long awaited sequel will be about but Val Kilmer is set to return in some capacity as well as Tom “Iceman” Kasansky.  The movie is looking at a July 12th release next summer.
