Talking to the living or talking to the dead doesn’t matter to Klaus Hargreeves, codename The Séance. He has been gifted the ability to communicate with spirits and perform telekinetic feats, but this was never enough for him. Recovering from the events of The Umbrella Academy: Dallas, Klaus is now part of a satanic biker gang that uses his powers for quick cash. In exchange for his talents, the bikers feed his drug habits. With the Academy members scattered, there is no one making sure their brother is on the clean and steady, and now the séance is giving his service for anyone with the right money. Elsewhere in Texas, a person has taken interest in Number Five’s work and is preparing for something big in the future.
Issue two reintroduces Klaus Hargreeves, the paranormal telekinetic with some bad habits. Before he met with the other members of the Umbrella Academy, he was already rough around the edges with his drinking and drug usages. His family helped sober him up a bit, forcing him to be steady to fight evil. Without their help, Klaus fell to rock bottom, working with a biker gang that only care for his powers and what profits that can be taken from him. For a moment, Klaus was able to keep off the bad habits when his teammates’ lives were on the line, but his own demons have taken him down an unfortunate path.
The Umbrella Academy members have greatly drifted apart at this moment. Only a few siblings are in contact with each other while the rest have exiled themselves to pursue other interest. Number Five is out enjoying making a name for himself in the freelance work, Allison and Vanya are recovering from their injuries, Luther and Diego are preparing to travel into space. But powerful forces have been keeping an eye on the members, waiting to build up the resources to unleash a hidden plan.
