Kenneth Branagh Finally Brings Artemis Fowl to the Big Screen (Trailer)

Hitting the scene in 2001 and in development by Disney as a film since 2016, Artemis Fowl is finally hitting the big screen with Kenneth Branagh at the helm.  Starring newcomer Ferdia Shaw stars as Artemis Fowl II, a young criminal mastermind who is looking to rescue his missing father and restore their family’s fortune.  He and his bodyguard, Domovoi Butler (Nonso Anozie), hatch a scheme to kidnap a faerie and hold her for ransom, which draws the full attention of the magical police force LEP.  Author Eoin Colfer describes the first book as “Die Hard with Faeries” and despite seeming like a Harry Potter knock-off, the book series developed it’s own big fanbase and was critically acclaimed at the time of it’s release.  The movie version also co-stars Judi Dench, Josh Gad, Miranda Raison, Lara McDonnell and Hong Chau but this trailer is very much a teaser and doesn’t really explain or setup anything and is probably nonsense to anyone who hasn’t read the book (myself included).  The movie arrives on August 9th next summer and you can check out the trailer below.
