EA Commentary: The Boondock Saints

For the latest Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the most whiskey soaked action movie of all time, The Boondock Saints.

Starring a then basically unknown Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery, who was probably best known for the Young Indiana Jones TV series, The Boondock Saints features the pair as the McManus Brothers, who kind of just stumble into a career as vigilantes determined to clean up the crime flooding the streets of Boston and start to systematically take out various mob goons with the help of their buddy Rocco (David Della Rocco).  The brother’s activity is investigated by flamboyantly over the top FBI Agent Smecker (Willem Dafoe) and a legendary hitman named Il Duce (Billy Connelly) also eventually gets into the mix.

The movie is available to stream on Amazon Prime and you can watch along with the guys as they remember how many abrupt edits and flashbacks there are in the movie, the bizarre sight of former TGIF star Billy Connelly as the most dangerous man in the world, Willem Dafoe practicing the bug-eyed insanity he would bring soon to Spider-Man, the various “influences” on the movie and much more.
