The Pull List – Stranger Things: Six #3

Dr. Brenner gives test after test to his subject, trying to unlock the power hidden inside each of the children. The latest experiment has Six placed in a sensory deprivation chamber to control her precognitive ability. Removing all her focus on the past and present, Six could potentially get a clear view of the future. But Six releases there will no end to the experiments, she is convinced escape is the only option.

Six originally volunteered at the Hawkins Laboratory to understand her powers but has come to realize the truth behind the laboratory. The sensory deprivation chamber let her see further into the future than ever before, a tangled preview of things to come.  The imagery shocks her and does not let others know. Now Six has to find an opportunity to escape and leave the laboratory behind before its too late.

Jody Houser perfectly captures Dr. Brenner’s lust for power and his desire to control in this issue.  Before Dr. Brenner was pushing Eleven to her limits, Six was the candidate Dr. Brenner giving grueling challenges to. The doctor stopped at nothing to understand the other realm. The gifted children had connections and abilities never before seen, and he would be in control of them. Edgar Salazar, Keith Champagne, Marissa Louise give the story an amazing presentation, with crisp character designs and moody tones. The laboratory setting gives a cold appearance that is almost like a secondary antagonist in the story. It has become something like a prison and an oppressive force that holds back Six and her friends.

Stranger Things: Six was released on July 31st, 2019.
