  • Tom Welling and Erica Durance returning for Crisis on Infinite Earths: Tom Welling and Erica Durance will be reprising their Smallville roles of Clark Kent and Lois Lane for the upcoming, massive Arrowverse crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths.  The crossover will also feature Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and The Joker for the first time ever in live-action and bring Black Lightning into contact with the other CW heroes for the first time.
  • GLOW gets a fourth and final season: Netflix’s wrestling dramedy GLOW is getting a fourth and final season on the streaming service.  The new season will probably arrive some time next year, as the third season just arrived in August of this year and sent the ladies of GLOW to Las Vegas.
  • Disney developing a live-action adventure movie called Knights: With all their focus on Marvel, Star Wars and live-action remakes, it’s surprising to hear about an original Disney movie in development but they have an adventure film called Knights in the works.  The movie is set in medieval Europe and follows ” a headstrong young woman who joins a knight on his quest to destroy a world-threatening artifact before it falls into the wrong hands”.  There’s no casting or director attached as of right now.
  • The Boondocks reboot gets a 2 season order on HBO Max: The Boondocks reboot that has been in the works is getting at least 2 seasons on the upcoming HBO Max streaming service along with the original Adult Swim episodes being available to stream.  Creator Aaron McGruder is the showrunner for the reboot and it will follow the Freemans as they live in a new suburb in Maryland but their neighborhood is taken over by Uncle Ruckus when he wins a local election and he implements a bizarre, neo-fascist regime.
  • The Fugitive getting rebooted at Quibi: Quibi, an upcoming mobile device only streaming service from Jeffrey Katzenberg, is drawing in a ton of talent to its short-form format and one of the programs that will be available is a reboot of The Fugitive.  Boyd Holbrook will be the one on the run after he’s wrongfully accused of detonating a bomb on a subway train and Kiefer Sutherland will be the one hunting him.  Quibi launches on April 6th next year.
  • House Party getting remade: Speaking of reboots/remakes, the classic comedy House Party is getting rebooted over at New Line with music video director Calmatic at the helm.  Calmatic directed and won an MTV VMA for the video for “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X.  It’s not clear who would star or if Kid N Play would return in any capacity but they were featured as recently as 2012 in the fifth(?!) sequel to the original House Party that went straight to video.
  • Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson confirm they will be back for Ghostbusters 2020: It was pretty much confirmed but Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson they will be back as Ray and Winston respectively for next year’s continuation of the original Ghostbusters series.  Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts also confirmed they would be back but Bill Murray is still up in the air.  Joining the OG cast is Finn Wolfhard, Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, and McKenna Grace and it features a group of kids having to deal with paranormal activity in their small town and somehow connecting with the original Ghostbusters.
  • Timothy Olyphant joins Fargo Season 4: Timothy Olyphant is returning to FX for the upcoming fourth season of Fargo.  He’ll be playing a character named Dick “Deafy” Wickware but it’s not clear what he’ll be up to.  The season is set in 1950 and follows an African-American gang, led by Chris Rock, and an Italian gang that maintains a tentative peace in Kansas City until a sudden death changes things.
  • M. Night Shyamalan has two original movies in the works: Coming off the divisive Glass, M. Night Shyamalan apparently has two more original movies in the works at Universal.  Both are being described as thrillers but there are no other details besides release dates.  One will arrive in February 2021 and the other in February 2023.
  • NBC’s streaming service is now officially Peacock: We’ve known about NBC’s streaming service for a while but we got much more detail this week as it’s now officially called Peacock and will launch in April next year.  Along with Friends and The Office, the streaming service will feature other movies and shows under the NBC, Universal and Dreamworks umbrellas and original shows.  It was announced that there will be reboots of Battlestar Galactica, Punky Brewster and Saved by the Bell on the service, with the latter two featuring their original stars coming back (or at least Elizabeth Berkeley and Mario Lopez for Saved by the Bell).   There was no pricing announcement but there will be ad-supported and ad-free versions of the service.
  • Funko movie moving forward at WB: WB Animation is developing a movie based on Funko Pops and Pixar and WB Animation vets Teddy Newton and Mark Dindal are signed on to write and direct the movie respectively.  Funko is working with WB to try and get the various licenses they would need into the movie and hopefully it will be a pleasant surprise like the Lego movies.
  • Netflix gets streaming rights to Seinfeld: Netflix is trying to recover from their future loss of Friends and The Office by getting the exclusive streaming rights to another sitcom staple, Seinfeld.  Netflix signed a five-year deal with Sony that will start in 2021 after Hulu’s rights to the series expire.
  • Marilyn Manson joins American Gods Season 3: Marilyn Manson is joining the pantheon over at Starz’s American Gods and will portray Johan Wengren in the upcoming third season.  Wengren is the lead singer of a Viking based death metal band called Blood Death that is a source of godly power for Mr. Wednesday. The third season will air sometime next year on Starz.
  • Stallone has been talking to Robert Rodriguez about a Cobra reboot: There’s been rumblings of some sort of return of Cobra from Stallone and this week, while on the press tour for Rambo: Last Blood, Stallone mentioned that he’s been talking to Robert Rodriguez about possibly turning Cobra into a TV series and that basically he’s letting Robert Rodriguez take the reins to develop it further.
