  • Possible Catwoman shortlist for The Batman: A possible list of actresses up for the role of Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the upcoming The Batman was put out this week and it includes Tessa Thompson, Lupita Nyong’o, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Alexandra Shipp and Logan Browning.
  • Disney developing a new Inspector Gadget movie: Insperctor Gadget is returning to theaters (or maybe Disney+) as Disney is developing a new live-action take on the cybernetic gumshoe.  Mikey Day and Street Seidell from SNL are writing the script.  No word on a director or who would be playing Gadget, who was previously brought to life in live-action by Matthew Broderick and French Stewart.
  • New Evil Dead movie in development: Sam Raimi confirmed this week that he, Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert are working on ideas for a new Evil Dead movie.  There are multiple ideas based on if Bruce will return as Ash or not and also ideas for a sequel to Fede Alvarez’s sequel but Raimi said in about 6 months or so we’ll probably have a more concrete idea of what the future of the franchise is.
  • Hunger Games prequel book gets title: The Hunger Games prequel novel (that will also probably get turned into a movie at some point) is now called The Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents.  It is set 64 years before the first Hunger Games novel and tells the story of the 10th Hunger Games competition, that itself was only 10 years removed from the war that reshaped the world and forged Panem.
  • Red Dead 2 coming to PC in November: PC fans can get their hands on the western adventures of Arthur Morgan in November when Red Dead Redemption 2 comes to PC (and also Google Stadia).  Pre-orders open on October 9th and Rockstar is doing a pretty sweet deal where if you pre-order Red Dead 2 on PC, you will get your choice of 2 previous Rockstar PC ports for free, including GTA 5, Bully, LA Noire, and Max Payne 3.  The game will be available on Rockstar’s games launcher, the Epic Games store, Green Man Gaming, the Humble Store, GameStop.  The game will also be available on Steam, but not until December.
  • Dolph Lundgren/Stallone TV show ends up on CBS: We learned a while ago that Dolph Lundgren and Sly Stallone were teaming up for a TV series that would star Lundgren and now we got news that that show, The International, will be on CBS.  Lundgren plays Anders Soto, a special agent of the UN who travels the globe solving problems as a one-man black ops unit.
  • New Treasure Island movie in development: Universal is setting sail for Treasure Island and have tapped How to Train Your Dragon direcotr Dean DeBlois to direct a new live-action movie based on the Robert Louis Stevenson novel.  The last direct adaptation of the novel was in 1999 with Jack Palance but there has also been things like Disney’s Treasure Planet and Starz’s prequel series, Black Sails.  This new movie will probably be much more family friendly than the latter, which was essentially pirate Game of Thrones.
  • Snowpiercer moves back to TNT: The upcoming Snowpiercer series has moved back to it’s original home of TNT after being moved to TBS.  The series already has a second season renewal and will air on TNT in the spring of next year.  The comedy-focused TBS is still getting dramas in the future, including an action series called Obliterated that they picked up this week for a full season.
  • Beverly Hills Cop 4 coming after Coming to America 2: Eddie Murphy seems to be looking to continue all his old franchises with Coming to America 2 in production and apparently Beverly Hills Cop 4 on the way after that.  Murphy himself confirmed the news and said that after those two films, he’s looking to get back on stage and do stand-up again.  There’s been a Beverly Hills Cop 4 in the works since the mid-90s and there was most recently a possible TV sequel that would follow Axel Foley’s son with Murphy potentially returning as Axel, who would now be the chief of police but CBS passed on that series.
