EA Commentary: The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes

To celebrate this month’s launch of Disney+, Zach and Chris headed back into the Disney Vault and watched 1969’s The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes.

Kurt Russell stars as Dexter Riley, a college student at Medfield College who, along with his group of friends, manages to convince local businessman (and secret gambling crime kingpin) AJ Arno (Cesar Romero) to donate a computer to the school.  While he’s changing out a part as a favor to his professor, the computer is struck by lightning and Dexter is shocked while holding onto some of the computer’s cables.  Instead of dying though, Dexter’s brain is transformed into a computer and he can do complex math, memorize any information he reads and speak any language.  He becomes an overnight celebrity and the ace in the hole for Medfield College to win a massive trivia tournament that could get them $100,000.  The guys try to figure out why Dexter’s brain is literally a computer, why Cesar Romero donated his secret gambling computer to the school, why it seems like there’s at least three partial movies slammed together and more.  The movie, as mentioned in the intro, is on Disney+ and you can sync it up there and watch along with the Everything Action crew.
