  • Jennifer Tilly will appear in SyFy’s Chucky series: Child’s Play/Chucky vet Jennifer Tilly will return as, one would presume, Tiffany Valentine for the upcoming SyFy series from original Child’s Play creator Don Mancini and Channel Zero’s Nick Antosca.  The show is set in the original Chucky universe and finds the murdering doll ending up in a suburban yard sale and causing chaos in a small town.
  • Tom Hardy starring in biopic Shackleton: Tom Hardy has signed on to play the legendary explorer Ernest Shackleton in an upcoming biopic called Shackleton.  It’s not clear if it will be a traditional biopic or if it will focus in on Shackleton’s most famous expedition, the disastrous Trans-Antarctic Expedition, where he and his men were forced to abandon ship when it was crushed by ice and they were forced to make a 720 nautical mile journey in sub-zero temperatures in lifeboats.
  • The Frighteners may become a TV series: Peter Jackson’s cult classic horror/comedy The Frighteners is becoming a TV series with Charlize Theron’s Denver and Deliah Productions behind it.  There are not many details but the new version might be much darker and “stripped of humor” and there is the possibility of a new movie along with a series.
  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot gets directors: Texas Chainsaw Massacre is getting rebooted over at Legendary with Fede Alvarez producing and they’ve found their directors in Andy and Ryan Tohill.  The brothers directed the horror movie The Dig from 2018 along with numerous shorts.
  • Sam Raimi in talks for Doctor Strange 2: With Scott Derrickson dropping out of directing the sequel to Doctor Strange, Marvel is apparently in talks to bring in the great Sam Raimi to take over.  Derrickson will remain an executive producer on the movie, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, and Chiwetel Ejiofor and ties into Disney+’s upcoming Wandavision series.  The movie is out in May of next year.
  • RIP Kirk Douglas: The legendary Kirk Douglas passed away this past week at age 103.  Douglas was probably best known for starring in Spartacus for Stanley Kubrick but some of Everything Action’s other favorite roles include his guest-starring role on The Simpsons as Itchy & Scratchy creator Chester Lampwick, The Final Countdown, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the “Yellow” episode of Tales from the Crypt.
  • Turbo Kid sequel in development: A sequel to the excellent synth fueled throwback Turbo Kid is apparently in the works from the directing team of François Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell.  The trio has a script that they say is the equivalent of going from Mad Max to The Road Warrior but they need much more financial backing than the original movie to make that happen.
  • Superman and Lois’ sons cast for The CW: Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch will be returning to The CW full-time with their upcoming series Superman & Lois and the duo’s twin sons have been cast for the series.  Jordan Elsass will play Jonathan Kent and Alexander Garfin will play Jordan Kent.  The show was ordered straight to series by The CW.
  • Ray Donavan Canceled at Showtime: Showtime has canceled their long-running drama series, Ray Donovan, after seven seasons, the season finale of Season 7 now acting as the series finale, even though the creative team had plans in place to wrap up the story with a final 8th season.  The show followed Liev Schreiber’s Ray Donavan, a fixer for a powerful law firm, who worked to arrange things like bribes and intimidate witnesses to get the outcome his clients wanted while trying to be a family man and deal with the release of his imprisoned father.
  • Chris Pratt starring in The Terminal List TV series: Chris Pratt is coming back to TV for a new thriller series called The Terminal List produced by Antoine Fuqua.  No network is attached yet but the show would star Pratt as a Navy SEAL who is the only survivor when his platoon is wiped out.  He returns home with conflicting memories about the attack and uncovers evidence that there might be a darker truth behind things.
  • Castlevania returns in March: Netflix’s excellent Castlevania animated series is back for its third season on March 5th.  The series will continue to follow the adventures of Trevor Belmont and his allies Alucard and Sypha as they take on the new threat of Carmilla, one of Dracula’s former lieutenants who has risen to power after his defeat by Alucard in Season 2.
  • Disney is releasing a filmed version of Hamilton: In case the musical phenomenon is too expensive or not performing near you, Disney is bringing Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton to theaters in October 2021.  The filmed version is from 2016 and features the original Broadway cast and was filmed with a new tech called “live capture” that Disney says will make it seem like you are watching the performance live in theaters.
  • Henry Czerny returning for Mission: Impossible sequels: OG Mission: Impossible co-star Henry Czerny is returning as Eugene Kittridge, who was the original director of IMF in Brian De Palma’s first entry in the series, but has not been seen since.  There have been multiple directors since, including Alec Baldwin and Laurence Fishburne.  Czerny has signed on to both upcoming sequels, the first of which is hitting in July next year.
