Musical Montage: Elton John and Taron Egerton “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again”

Winning “Best Original Song” at the recent 92nd Academy Awards, (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again was written by Sir Elton John specifically for the biopic about his life, Rocketman, which starred Taron Egerton as the younger John.  John and Egerton both perform on the song and as well as winning the Oscar, it also won a Golden Globe, Satellite Award and Critics’ Choice Award, besting songs like “Into the Unknown” from Frozen II and “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” by Randy Newman.  It was Sir Elton’s second Oscar win, he won in 1994 for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” from The Lion King. The song was also released as a single and charted at #12 on the Adult Contemporary Billboard Chart and #4 on the Dance Club Songs chart. The music video for the song is a massive, psychedelic celebration of all things Elton John, with clips from the movie, animation, and archival footage photos and video along with John and Egerton recording the song in the studio.  Check it out below.
