DVD commentary can offer insight into a production, provide off the cuff laughs, explain theories and thought processes but only Arnold Schwarzenegger’s commentaries provide a public service by explaining exactly what is happening in every scene to eliminate any confusion.  The highlights of his commentary for Total Recall has been making the rounds of the internet today but there’s also a video highlighting his Conan the Barbarian commentary with director John Milius as well.  Check out both of them below.

The Walking Dead is finally going to be back on October 16th and to get everyone excited, AMC released six webisodes that highlights a side story that occurs in the early days of the zombie outbreak as a mom and her two children take shelter at a neighbor’s house and things quickly fall apart.  The acting isn’t quite up to the standards of the show but the amazing zombie make up is still in full effect.  You can check out episode 1 below and then follow the links at the end of the video to check out the rest of the episodes (6 in all).

Appearing on the Thor DVD that will be out in a couple weeks is the first of what Marvel says will be a bunch of short films on their upcoming DVDs and possibly in front of future Marvel films in theaters.  This first one, entitled “The Consultant”, features SHIELD Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) as he schemes to figure out a way to keep the Abomination in the custody of General Ross, even though some government higher ups want him pardoned and placed on The Avengers.  It’s pretty quick, but it’s a cool extra to Incredible Hulk and the other Marvel films.  You can check out the short below.

After the pretty divisive original trailer for the upcoming DC movie Green Lantern, DC has remained extremely stealthy about any other trailers or footage.  Most of the news about the movie was coming from the toy line.  At this weekend’s Wonder Con however, DC and Warner Bros. finally revealed some more footage and the reception from those in attendance was so positive that they decided to release an abridged version of the footage onto the internet in a sort of pseudo trailer.  I appreciate the fact that the footage is highlighting the cosmic nature of the Green Lantern Corps. as opposed to the original trailer, which was trying to be Iron Man lite.  The effects look a lot better in this footage as well, which is the main reason DC/WB has given for the reason for the lack of additional footage or trailers since the original trailer.  Check out the footage below and the movie is out in June.

A couple of cool new entries in the “supercut” genre of viral video hit the web today.  The first is an arty montage of some of cinema’s greatest spoilers broken up into a couple of different segments like deaths, romances, endings, etc.  It’s got great editing and music choices, so check it out below:

The other video (and my favorite of the two) is this supercut of 80 “titular lines” or lines where a character will say the name of the movie in the movie. It’s got a great mix of classic movies and more recent favorites.

From the guys that made all the other brilliant action movie musicals comes the final one featuring Arnold, Predator: The Musical.   Arnold and cast sing the rousing number “If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It” as they prepare for their final confrontation with the Predator.  As always the Arnold voice is spot on and hilarious and I also love the Carl Weathers voice as well.  Check out the video below.

Is it just me, or is the Grindhouse genre finally coming back? Hot off the heels of the Kobe Bryant “Black Mamba” short film I talked about yesterday comes this music video from indie blues rockers The Black Keys. The “Howlin’ for You” clip stars Tricia Helfer as a Bride-esque killer looking for revenge of her father’s death. The band makes an appearance but also starring are a slew of b-listers such as Todd Bridges, Corbin Bernsen and.. Shaun White?! Yeah, it’s that crazy.

For those unfamiliar with the NBA, Kobe Bryant is the superstar player for the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. This, of course, comes with a slew of endorsements including Nike, who’ve commissioned Robert Rodriguez to do a short film on the self-appointed “Black Mamba” — Grindhouse style. The short film, which you can view below, contains a few aspects of the Grindhouse genre from the menacing voice-over to some of the ridiculous action. Not to mention the guest stars: Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo and, yes, even Kanye West make an appearance.

As most Americans know, the Homeland Security color-coded Terror Alert system is nearing its end. On last night’s episode of “Conan”, they revealed a possible replacement featuring an Everything Action favorite: the one and only Nicolas Cage.

You have to admit the system is spot on. God forbid we ever hit “Wicker Man” status.

Setting the internet ablaze this week was the following video featuring a couple of the action sequences from the Indian film Endhiran.  From what I gather about the plot, it’s about a guy who invents or is the inspiration for a line of robots that go insane and must be stopped.  The first action sequence in the video, in which an evil robot causes havoc on a freeway, would have been a shoe in for most insane action sequence if not for the second sequence, which is the climax of the movie, in which hundreds of evil robots fuse themselves together into tons of different shapes like a ball full of guns, a giant snake and more.  No human is able to fully describe the glorious insanity of these scenes, so just watch the video below and make sure you remember to pick your jaw up off the floor when you’re done.

Warner Bros. has been working on a bunch of CG Looney Tunes cartoons to debut before some of their movies and the first, “Coyote Falls”, has been released online after getting released this summer.  In classic Road Runner fashion, Wile. E Coyote has come up with another foolproof plan to catch the Road Runner by bungee jumping but, of course, things go horribly wrong.  I really like the look and it’s got all the classic humor you expect from Looney Tunes.  Check it out below.

The latest action movie turned musical by Jon and Al Kaplan is our beloved Commando, and it might be their most brilliant video to date.  Arnold sings the heartwarming song “Jenny and Me”, which pretty much sums up the whole movie in 3 minutes.  I love the fact that they integrated Commando’s steel drum flavored score into the song and also that Bennett sounds like he’s from Sweeney Todd or something.  Check it out below.

There’s a new Marvel cartoon debuting on Disney XD in October and to get everyone pumped they’re releasing short “microsodes” every day until the first episode airs on October 11th.  They seem to be taking place in the canon of the movies as, in this first microsode, we find Tony Stark still unwilling to join S.H.I.E.L.D. and taking on various threats by himself.  The evil organization HYDRA attacks the UN and Tony heads out to stop them while S.H.I.E.L.D. mobilizes.  The cartoon looks pretty cool and you can check out the microsode below and head to marvel.com every day for the other episodes.

Everything is Terrible is back with another of their fantastic 3 Minute Movie videos.  This time they excavated the horrible futuristic/apocalyptic action movie 2020 Texas Gladiators.  The thing I keep flashing back to while watching this is the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode “Warriors of the Lost World”.  As near as I can tell, a group of rebels in Texas are trying to overthrow the evil, technologically superior dictator and get help from some friendly Native Americans.  Check out all the horribleness below.

Finally, the brilliance of Chris Klein’s performance in Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li has been condensed into a single amazing video.  Everything the master thespian says is here for your perusal/study and I’ll think you’ll agree with me that, after watching this, Klein was robbed during whatever award season corresponded to when Street Fighter came out.

As we’ve mentioned before, Star Wars has been one of the best breeding grounds for fan films and one making the rounds this week on the internet is the fantastic animated short “The Solo Adventures”.  Taking place shortly before A New Hope, the short fills in the details of what happened to the cargo that Han Solo lost which resulted in Jabba the Hutt putting a bounty on his head.  There’s fantastic voice work in the short as well from John Armstrong, who actually played Indiana Jones in the recent Wii game.  Check it out below and there’s also a 3D version on Vimeo.

Red Letter Media, who brought us fantastic reviews/eviscerations of The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones are back with Mr. Plinkett’s review of JJ Abrams review of Star Trek.  It’s definitely the most positive review I’ve seen from them so far but Plinkett still has his usual, incredibly insightful, criticisms about not just the movie but the Star Trek franchise and the current state of movies in general.  It’s also full of their usual incredibly dark humor.  Check out both parts below (the whole review is about an hour long).

Everything is Terrible and the Alamo Drafthouse are teaming up to show the world “Miami Connection”, a movie that looks like it’s awesomely bad in every possible way.  As the trailer below shows, EIT claims that this movie has something for everyone including, “Neck Gore, Pizza Parties and Epic Letter Openings”.  Check it out below.

What happens when someone watches the volleyball scene from Top Gun and thinks, “We should base a whole movie on this!”  You get the 1986 relic Spiker, recently unearthed by Everything is Terrible.  When a hot shot beach volleyball player is recruited for some sort of all star team, he learns that his cool moves and attitude won’t get him anywhere in the serious world of real volleyball.  Check out the highlights below.

Star Wars has always been a great source for entertaining fan films but this one is easily one of the best.  Topless Robot found this trailer for Blackstar Warrior, a blaxsploitation sci fi/action movie starring the smoothest dude in the galaxy, Lando Calrissian.  Lando is just trying to make his way in the galaxy but gets hassled by the man and takes the fight to the Empire.  It’s a perfect combination of a blaxsploitation trailer and nerdy Star Wars references, definitely check it out below.
