Bohemian Rhapsody took the top spot the box office with the second highest opening ever for a musical biopic while The Nutcracker and Nobody’s Fool came in on the low end of expectations.
The final weekend of October 2018 cemented it as the highest grossing October of all time as Halloween, A Star is Born and Venom remained a strong top 3 while most of the new releases didn’t fare very well.
It couldn’t quite top Venom’s record-breaking October opening but Halloween took the second highest grossing October opening weekend record as well as the second-best R rated horror opening of all time and the best opening ever for the slasher genre.
Venom and A Star is Born held off all comers and remained in first and second place with strong second weekend performances.
Venom, despite poor reviews from critics, had a massive opening over the weekend, shattering the record for best October opening while the new A Star is Born also performed well beyond expectations in second place.
