Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales took the top spot at the box office but only topped Curse of the Black Pearl as far as openings while The Rock suffered his first flop in a long time in Baywatch, which was defeated by Guardians Vol. 2 in it’s fourth weekend of release.

Alien: Covenant offers up a solid entry in the Alien franchise but doesn’t really follow through on any of the mythology or questions raised in Prometheus, especially in regard to the Engineers.
Alien: Covenant managed to just barely beat Guardians Vol. 2 at the box office but it’s opening was way down from Prometheus’ opening back in 2012.

Guardians Vol. 2 remained at the top of the box office for another weekend while King Arthur suffered a massive disaster of an opening which could potentially lose WB over $150 million.
