Good Boys was the surprise winner at the box office, toppling Hobbs & Shaw and becoming only the third original film of 2019 to top the box office.
Hobbs & Shaw held off all of the new releases that opened over the weekend to stay on the top of the box office while Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark did the best of those aforementioned new releases.
Spinning off from the mainline Fast & Furious movies, bickering action duo Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw are pulled back into action by the CIA to track down Deckard’s sister Hattie and the deadly virus she’s carrying before it’s taken by villainous bionic supersoldier Brixton.
Hobbs & Shaw dominated the first weekend of August, but it was only a middle of the road opening for the Fast & Furious franchise and below all the Fast movies since Fast Five.
August explodes into theaters with the Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, which teams up The Rock and Jason Statham to face off against a genetically enhanced Idris Elba.
