The 90th Academy Awards are this weekend but the only awards that actually matter are our Kick Ass Awards, celebrating the best and worst of the previous year, including the Ass Kicker of the Year and the Kick Ass Movie of 2017.
This week on the podcast, Zach, Chris and Joe talk the incredible boredom of Geostorm, the insanity of Ryan Murphy shows, the new season of Channel Zero, the insane casting for the Kung Fury movie, Incredibles 2, scientist Rock and much more.
Geostorm is the lesser of two evils for a slow week of new releases on DVD and Blu-Ray that also includes Jigsaw, a new Donnie Yen movie, the second season of the BBC’s Dirk Gently and more.
Zach gives his picks for the top 5 worst movies he saw in 2017
Topping Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnorak became the 7th highest opening MCU movie ever and set a new November record in China as well while A Bad Moms Christmas tried to counter-program and Jigsaw and Boo 2! both suffered in the first post-Halloween weekend.
Jigsaw successfully took back Halloween but it was one of the lowest ever openings for the series while most of other new releases bombed as well and Amityville: The Awakening had one of the weirdest and most pointless theatrical releases ever.
This week on the podcast, Zach, Chris and Joe discuss the disappointing second season of Channel Zero, serious Jackie Chan, Geostorms, terrible 90’s X-Men, Magnum PI, Contra, the confusing nature of Lego Dimensions expansion packs and more.
Despite it’s ridiculous premise and crazy trailers, Geostorm is mostly a boring slog of a disaster action movie with nothing you haven’t seen done bigger and better in other disaster movies.
Boo 2! took the top spot at the box office and continued the Madea series run of $20+ million openings but the rest of the new releases did not do great, especially serial killer thriller The Snowman and disaster movie Geostorm.
A weird mix of movies out this weekend including a based on a true story drama, an over the top disaster movie, a serial killer thriller and a new wacky Madea movie.
