Endgame managed to hold off all the new releases to stay on top for the third weekend in a row as it closes in on Avatar worldwide but Detective Pikachu almost managed to top it with the biggest opening ever for a video game based movie.
Detective Pikachu arrives as the only well-received new movie of the weekend with the three other new movies getting rotten ratings from the critics.
Although it’s not clear if it will be heard in this weekend’s Detective Pikachu, Pokemon still has one of the most iconic theme songs of all time, especially for 90s kids, with the English version sung by Jason Paige and the Japanese version sung by voice actress Rica Matsumoto.
The first ever live-action Pokemon movie arrives in May with Ryan Reynolds starring as snarky private eye Detective Pikachu, who teams up with Tim Goodman to help find Tim’s missing father (and because Tim is the only who can actually understand what he’s saying).
