Naomi Watts plays a child psychologist who takes in one of her patients but he runs off and is presumed killed during a severe winter storm. Shortly after, Watts starts seeing and hearing things that makes it seem like Tom (Jacob Tremblay) is back and threatens her and her comatose son.
