Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish topped the box office with their comedy Night School while Smallfoot and Hell Fest performed to expectations and The Nun became the highest grossing movie worldwide for The Conjuring franchise.
Not too much out this week but there is the new Magnificent Seven, Sully and the latest from Rob Zombie.
The Girl on the Train took the top spot at the box office but it didn’t quite reach the monetary or critical heights of the similar Gone Girl while most of the other new releases performed below expectations.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children took the top spot at the box office but it opened about the same as Dark Shadows while Masterminds had one of the worst openings for a 3,000+ theater opening and Deepwater Horizon was below the last Peter Berg/Mark Wahlberg collaboration.
The Magnificent Seven took the weekend box office with one of the best openings in recent years for the western genre and a top 3 opening for Denzel Washington and his best collaborating with Antoine Fuqua.
