Jon Favreau is taking next summer off from Iron Man to bring us a different comic based movie.  Cowboys & Aliens was a graphic novel that, if you couldn’t tell from the title, was about western folk who are attacked/abducted by aliens.  Daniel Craig plays a man who wakes up in the desert with a bizarre device on his wrist and no memory about who he is and how he got there.  He gets into trouble when he heads into town but everyone is in trouble shortly when the device summons alien spacecrafts that start abducting people and blowing shit up.  Harrison Ford co-stars and the movie also has Sam Rockwell, Olivia Wilde and Paul Dano.  It’s a great teaser trailer in that it gives you the premise but doesn’t reveal too much and I’m always down for fun twists on the Western genre, be it zombies, aliens or anything else.  It’s set to come out right in the midst of the summer blockbuster season and you can check out the trailer below.

One of the most anticipated movies of next year finally gets a trailer, attached to Harry Potter this weekend.  In recent years, the Green Lantern/Hal Jordan has become one of DC’s most popular characters, culminating with last year’s Blackest Night event.  Ryan Reynolds is playing Hal in the movie version and goes back to his origins of being an Air Force test pilot who is recruited into the intergalactic crime fighting society of the Green Lanterns.  The trailer has kind of a weird tug of war going on in that it seems like it wants to be both funny like Iron Man but the music and titles would have you believe it’s serious like The Dark Knight.  It also looks like most of the movie takes place on Earth as opposed to other planets, which I guess is a good thing since most movie goers are going to be hearing about Green Lantern for the first time but the Green Lanterns are space cops so hopefully we’ll get to see some crazy planets.  Check out the trailer below and the movie is going to be out during next summer’s bloodbath of blockbusters.

The granddaddy of all summer blockbusters celebrates it’s 35th anniversary today.  Directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Roy Schieder and Richard Dreyfuss, the movie followed water phobic Sheriff Brody as he tries to deal with a huge killer shark that is terrorizing the waters off of the island of Amityville.  If you’ve never seen it, crawl out from under your rock and go watch it now.

So last week we got a behind the scenes look at Predators and this week we have the first trailer.  Produced by Robert Rodriguez and directed by Nimrod Antal, the movie stars Adrian Brody as Royce, a mercenary who is captured by the Predators, along with other dangerous humans, to be game for a hunt on their homeworld.  It’s looking good and hopefully will be a better sequel than Predator 2 (sorry Busey).  Check out the trailer below and the movie comes out in July.

The big screen debut of the A-Team is this summer and we have the first trailer for it.  Starring Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Face, Rampage Jackson as B.A. and Sharlto Copley as Murdock, the trailer looks pretty good.  They’ve got the voice over intro, the van, everybody looks and sounds like their 80′s counterpart. I’m on the fence about the end where the team bails out of a plane in a tank on parachutes and then proceeds to blow up another plane with the tank’s machine gun.  It’s like something out of Crank but the show was always ridiculous so hopefully it will work in the actual movie.  Judge for yourself by watching the trailer below:

The trailer for one of the biggest movies of next year finally debuted last night after some sort of crazy viral game/contest.  It looks great and if it’s half as good as the first one than it will still be a fun ride.  Tony Stark has become even more famous since revealing himself to be Iron Man but this draws attention from new villains Whiplash, who recreates Tony’s power supply into a suit with electric whips, and Justin Hammer, a rival industrialist.  Fortunately, Tony has help from Nick Fury and his buddy Jim Rhodes, who is going to strap into the War Machine armor.  Check out the trailer below and start counting the days till May 17.

The first trailer is out for next summer’s big blockbuster Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.  Based on the fantastic video game series, the movie looks like it’s following the basic premise of the first game where the titular Prince accidentally unleashes the power of the Sands of Time, a magical force that controls the flow of time.  The Prince gains possession of the Dagger of Time, which allows him to rewind time at will, and sets about to control the release of the Sand and stop an evil villain from gaining control and conquering the world with the help of a mysterious Princess.  The movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton and Ben Kingsley and is the latest venture between Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer.  It looks like a fun summer ride, kind of a sword and sandals Pirates of the Carribean and the special effects look fantastic.  We’ll have to wait and see if it can finally break the video game movie curse.

Robert Rodriguez’s sequel/reboot of the Predator franchise is moving along and the website Latino Review got a look at the script and say it’s “a 90 page kick ass sci fi movie worthy of the original.”

The plot follows a group of humans who are abducted by the Predator species for their combat skills and their ability to be worthy prey.  The group is lead by a man named Royce who apparently impresses the Predators with a kill he makes.  The rest of the group is from all across the globe including a Mexican drug cartel enforcer (most likely played by Danny Trejo, who was recently cast in the movie), a Yakuza member, a French female sniper, A giant Russian who uses a mini gun similar to Jesse Ventura’s in the original, a felon and a small, quiet man who is on the FBI’s most wanted list.

The group is dropped onto the Predator homeworld into a “game preserve” and are then hunted by a group of Predators who have Predator dogs and Predator falcons and led by a Super Predator, a jacked up version of the Predators we’ve seen before.  The group also meets former “prey” and learns the Predators have been abducting humans for years.

Robert Rodriguez usually delivers when it comes to crazy, over the top action so hopefully this will rock when it comes out next summer.
