Liam Neeson makes brass knuckles out of mini bar liquor bottles and PUNCHES A WOLF IN THE FACE!  I feel like I don’t have to write anything else about this movie because that image is so unbelievably awesome but you probably want a little bit more information.  The Grey is from director Joe Carnahan, who teamed with Liam Neeson last summer for the surprisingly awesome big screen adaptation of The A-Team.  In The Grey, Liam Neeson is the head of a group of oil rig workers who are flying home when their plane crashes in the wilderness of Alaska and the men have to make their to civilization while surviving the freezing temperatures and a pack of vicious wolves.  Ridley and Tony Scott are producers on the movie and it’s out this January.  Consider me extremely excited.

This week Charlie is back with a ton of stuff including his thoughts on The A-Team and The Karate Kid, Zombieland, and the TV show Sanctuary.

2010 is definitely the year of action teams and along with The Losers, The A-Team and The Expendables we now have Red, based on the comic mini series by Warren Ellis.  Bruce Willis stars as a retired CIA assassin who comes out of retirement when the CIA sends a hit squad after him.  While The Expendables features all your favorite action stars, Red features all your favorite Oscar winners and nominees like John Malkovich, Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren.  I think this might be worth it just for the novelty of seeing Helen Mirren kicking ass and it looks like Bruce Willis is back to his ass kicking self after his tranquilized performance in Surrogates.  Check out the trailer below and the movie is out later this year.

This week’s Everything Actioncast finds Zach, Brian and Chris (with a brief cameo by Charlie) talking about everything from Toy Story 3 to Gary Busey fighting man eating tigers to Futurama to When in Rome(?)

• News: Details about the Alien prequel films, The Smurfs Trailer, Crank duo possibly directing Ghost Rider 2, Neil Blomkamp possibly directing The Hobbit and the 35th anniversary of Jaws.
• Futurama Returns!: One of our favorite shows is back from the dead, Futurama, and the guys talk about some of their favorite episodes.

People apparently still love Woody, Buzz and the gang as Toy Story 3 decimated everything else at the box office, making $110.3 million, the highest ever opening for Pixar and the second highest animated film opening of all time.  Far in second was last week’s winner, The Karate Kid, which made another $29.8 million.  The A-Team moved down a spot to third with $14.4 million and Get Him to The Greek stayed in fourth.  Dreamworks continues to get bullied by Pixar as Shrek fell to fifth making only a little over $5.6 million.  Based on terrible reviews and the public not knowing who the fuck he is, Jonah Hex bombed, opening in seventh place with $5.3 million and just barely beating Killers in it’s third week.  Toy Story 3 should have no problem holding onto the top spot this weekend as the competition is fairly weak (Grown Ups & Knight and Day)

On this week’s show there’s burned spies, bad ass Southern marshalls, Charles Bronson, The A-Team, Transformers, Mortal Kombat and our favorite movie toys.

• Show and Tell: Brian finally started watching Burn Notice, Chris goes in depth about the lost Charles Bronson classic “Red Sun”, Joe checks out the big screen debut of The A-Team and Zach saw the season finale of Justified, Gamer and Shutter Island.
• News: Transformers 3 details, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows trailer, Telltale Games gets the Back to the Future and Jurassic Park licenses and the mysterious Mortal Kombat video.  Also Book of Eli heads up the New Release Round Up.
• Movie Toys: Toy Story 3 got the guys thinking about what some of their favorite movie toys are including the Talkboy, the Power Glove, the Hoverboard, Jumanji, the Commando Elite, Turboman and more.

In the battle of the 80′s remakes, The Karate Kid came out on top.  The new take on the 80′s classic pulled in around $55.6 million and doubled it’s weekend opponent of The A-Team, which made around $25.6 million.  The winner of the last couple of weeks, Shrek Forever After, dropped down to third with another $15.7 million.   Pretty much everything else slid down a spot or two with the only major movement coming from Sex and the City 2, which dropped from fifth to eighth.  The Karate Kid came out on top most likely due to it’s family friendliness but what will happen this weekend when the even more family friendly juggernaut of Toy Story 3 comes out?

In this week’s edition of Charlie’s mini podcasts, Charlie checked out Prince of Persia over the holiday weekend and gives his thoughts on it and the trailers that proceeded it like Scott Pilgrim, The Last Airbender and The A-Team.  He also saw The Blind Side and we get another edition of “What’s in My Satchel?”

This week the trio of Zach, Brian and Chris talk about the upcoming Summer Blockbuster season with such big movies as Iron Man 2, The Expendables, The A-Team and Toy Story 3 coming out.  They also talk about what they’ve seen (including what Chris subjects us to when we get together IRL) and movie news.

• Show and Tell: Brian checked out Sherlock Holmes and Bad Lieutenant and he and Chris saw The Losers.  We all saw two horrible movies during my weekend trip to VT, Gamebox 1.0 and The Entity.
• News: Anchorman 2 and Zoolander 2 passed on by Paramount (and we debate the merits of sequels), WB developing a kick ass take on Da Vinci,  Commando is getting remade and we see what New Releases there are.
• Summer Blockbuster Preview: The guys rate how excited they are for everything coming out in the next four months.

So the day after we get the groin grabbingly awesome Expendables trailer we get a new longer trailer for it’s summer competitor, The A-Team.  Liam Neeson is Hannibal, Rampage Jackson is BA, Bradley Cooper is Face and Sharlto Copley is Murdock, pretty great casting but I gotta go with the internet consensus which is we are way less excited for this after seeing The Expendables trailer.  In the trio of  mercenary team movies coming out this year Expendables is definitely my number one must watch and I think I might want to see The Losers more than the A-Team just because I think it’s looking like it’s got a better sense of humor and it’s not going to be stupidly ridiculous i.e. no tanks blowing up planes in mid air. It looks like they’re going in a little bit of a parody route with The A-Team and it’s not working from what I’ve seen (Why would BA hum the A-Team theme?) I’m definitely still going to see the A-Team but I’m a little worried it might be a train wreck. The big screen debut of the A-Team is this summer and we have the first trailer for it.  Starring Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Face, Rampage Jackson as B.A. and Sharlto Copley as Murdock, the trailer looks pretty good.  They’ve got the voice over intro, the van, everybody looks and sounds like their 80′s counterpart. I’m on the fence about the end where the team bails out of a plane in a tank on parachutes and then proceeds to blow up another plane with the tank’s machine gun.  It’s like something out of Crank but the show was always ridiculous so hopefully it will work in the actual movie.  Judge for yourself by watching the trailer below:
