There was no question if The Dark Knight Rises was going to be on the top of the charts for the weekend, the only question was how big of an opening it was going to have. The answer: third highest ever.

The weekend before the The Dark Knight Rises takes over the box office, Ice Age 4 was number one but it was not the greatest opening compared to previous Ice Ages and the other animated movies that have come out this year.

With GI Joe: Retalliation out of the way, Ted managed to sweep in and have the highest opening weekend ever for an R rated comedy and the weekend as a whole was the best overall for June.

The return of the Madagascar gang brought in slightly more money than the return of Ridley Scott to sci-fi over the weekend.

Snow White and the Huntsman took advantage of being the only new wide release and easily took the top spot away from MIB3 over the weekend.

Not too much news this week but we did find out about the massive 10 disc Avengers pack that will be out in September along with the major DC superhero who will come out of the closet and a new Treasure Island movie from Guy Ritchie is in the works.
