Happy Death Day continued Blumhouse’s horror success by taking over the box office from Blade Runner 2049, which took a pretty significant tumble from last week’s opening and continues to struggle with anyone outside of hardcore sci-fi fans.
Blade Runner 2049 took the top spot at the box office but it under-performed against even modest predictions for how it would fare and the other new releases did not set the world on fire either.
Many critics are calling Blade Runner 2049 better than the original and it’s out this weekend along with Kate Winslet and Idris Elba trying to survive the wilderness, My Little Pony and a true story about England’s Queen Victoria.
